If it ain’t broke, break it.
It seems that this is the mantra of the Biden administration, who once again managed to overturn a Trump policy meant to improve America’s safety.
According to the Washington Post, Biden has finally removed the “Remain In Mexico” policy that kept asylum seekers waiting south of our border while the U.S. processed their application for U.S. protection. Biden’s administration had attempted to eliminate the policy since day one. However, Matthew Kacsmaryk from the United States District Court has lifted his injunction.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled June 30 that the Biden administration had the authority to terminate the program, opening a path for DHS to finally bring a close to one of the Trump administration’s most contentious border measures.
DHS officials stated that asylum seekers who are waiting to be seen by the U.S. Immigration Court would be permitted to enter the United States on the day they hear their case and will remain in America while they wait for an outcome.
These people are now able to travel into the country, and then become lost. The asylum application is valid and they do not need to wait for the ruling. They’re now in the United States and can remain.
According to federal data, Trump’s “Remain” policy decreased this fraud. Only 1.6% of asylum requests to the U.S. could possibly be considered valid. Many claimed they did not know their claims were valid, and over 10,000 people terminated their claims before their hearing.
The Biden administration plan will, instead, rely on the illegal migrant’s word that they’ll return on a specified court date, which very few do.
Our border crisis has spiraled out of control and this makes it much easier for individuals to cross the U.S. border. Now all they need to do is claim asylum and they’re in, never having to bother with the U.S. government again unless they’re somehow unfortunate enough to be caught. However, this may not result in immediate release.
The America First Legal Foundation has found that the White House had released more than 750,000 illegal aliens to the United States in the five years since Biden’s administration took office.
Rest assured, this will make our immigration problem that much worse, but it would appear this administration’s primary goal isn’t to make things better.
