Rarely is the liberal media honest about the intentions of Democrats, but Joy Behar said the quiet part out loud on Tuesday’s edition of ABC’s The View. When discussing the upcoming hearings of the Democratic January 6 Committee, she openly boasted that the Democrats hired former ABC president James Goldston to help organize their presentation and turn it into a “theatrical event” in order to keep the public glued to their TVs.
“And as far as the criticism that’s a theatrical event,” Behar pivoted after claiming that Fox News was somehow “implicated” in the riot, “because they did hire a former ABC News president to go there, he used to work here, we know him, James Goldston, he’s doing something with them…”
Behar shared her unreserved two cents and opined on Thursday night’s need to “slap”These events will draw viewers’ attention:
BEHAR Something like, “On that day, these people tried to have your vice president killed.” That’s a fact.
Yes, SUNNY HOSTIN
BEHAR: I mean, maybe something like that will slap them into, “Wow, is that true?! Let’s hear more about that.” And so I don’t object to the theatricality of it.
“You’ve got to keep people’s attention,” she suggested before recalling that the Watergate hearings were boring but they had nothing to compete with. “This time they’ve got to give you the punch from the beginning.”
Lindsey Granger, a Republican guest host, was present at the table. She pointed out obvious attempts to influence the midterm election with the hearings.
GRANGER the actual intention of this, there’s a sentiment that Democrats need to re-brand this midterm message. Right? So by airing this, you’re going to remind everybody like, “Hey, Trump is aligned with other conservatives—” even though that’s not always true there’s plenty of people who spoke out against this – “And so, reminder don’t vote for these people in the midterms,” because you want to keep the majority.
BEHAR (under her breath): I don’t know what you’re talking about.
GRANGER: It is not a good idea to focus on the past when you aren’t looking forward. Because there’s things on top of mind for people.
And as Granger was listing off the other important things “on top of mind” for people including “feeding your baby,” “wanting to know a recession is looming,” and “gas,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg interrupted to suggest Granger was saying Americans were too dumb to follow those things plus the hearings.
“I think Americans are smart enough to be able to have more than one thought in their head about what’s going on,” she huffed, suggesting she and others were worried they’d “go to sleep” and “wake up in some new country.”
This praise and admission the hearings will be a circus was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Liberty Mutual and Dr. Scholl’s. You can find their contact information here.

JOY BEHAR Isn’t it? Laura Ingraham, Sean Hannity, and Brian Kilmeade begged Mark Meadows for help in stopping the attack. They now say the contrary. So, now they’re saying the opposite.
And as far as the criticism that’s a theatrical event – because they did hire a former ABC News president to go there, he used to work here, we know him, James Goldston, he’s doing something with them—
WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Not Fox, you’re talking about the January 6 – yeah.
BEHAR: Thursday’s hearings. Next week’s agenda.
However, I believe that this is an important point. On Thursday night, I feel that they should present it in the most dramatic manner possible so people continue to watch. Something like, “On that day, these people tried to have your vice president killed.” That’s a fact.
Yes, SUNNY HOSTIN
BEHAR: I mean, maybe something like that will slap them into, “Wow, is that true?! Let’s hear more about that.” And so I don’t object to the theatricality of it. It’s really – You’ve got to keep people’s attention.
My daughter, when she was just a little girl, watched the Watergate hearings. Although they weren’t as exciting, people were still riveted. Of course, there weren’t a million stations, there was no Fox News at that time to tell you everything you’re saying – seeing is a lie. So, things were different.
They’ve got you beat from the start this time.
LINDSEY RANGER: Fox News has it. It might not be on Fox News, but their business channel.
BEHAR: No one watches.
GRANGER: Well, with two of their flagship anchors, so that’s important. And they’re also providing it available on all digital platforms. Everyone is online, you know that. So, I don’t want to hear you can’t find it, because you don’t need a subscription. I’m just saying that cable news channels have this luxury.

GRANGER: And then if we think about the actual intention of this, there’s a sentiment that Democrats need to re-brand this midterm message.
GRANGER Because there’s things on top of mind for people. Things like feeding your baby are important, as I discussed yesterday.
HOSTIN (tries interrupting): [Sighs] Look–
GRANGER Some things are top-of-mind, such as how to pay your gas.
[Crosstalk]
GOLDBERG interjects: Americans have enough intelligence — Americans should be smart enough to think about more than one thing.
GRANGER: Interrupting
GOLDBERG I understand. However, I believe we are doing a disservice by suggesting that people don’t think about these things. Americans understand the realities of these things, but they also realize that when we fall asleep we don’t awake in another country. People want to find out that, and to be able to see how someone is doing it.
Therefore, we will have to keep an eye out. It’s going to be a watch-and-wait situation.
