‘Balanced’ PBS NewsHour SMEARS Parents’ Rights Movement as QAnon Kook Fringe

It all began at the PBS NewsHour is a subtle graphic with these words: “HONEST BALANCED TRUSTED.” There was nothing honest and nothing balanced on Friday night as our taxpayer-funded “newscast” smeared at least half the country who believe it’s inappropriate to teach kindergarteners sexual orientation and gender-identity lessons as Q-Anon conspiracy kooks.

It takes the BS out of PBS.

It began with John Yang’s softball interview with a liberal Michigan state senator named Mallory McMorrow, who’s been celebrated on CNN and MSNBC when Republican Sen. Lana Theis accused her of favoring “grooming and sexualizing” children. McMorrow proposed “this”. [QAnon]It is becoming clear that conspiracy is openly being exposed. And it is being used by one of our country’s two major political parties as the official policy,” that opposing the LGBTQ lessons is “this idea that the government is run by a satanist cabal of pedophiles.”

Yang only underlined the point and then asked, “Are your concerns about safety?”

Next came Jonathan Capehart and David Brooks. It was not balanced or honest. Capehart is openly gay and was delighted by McMorrow’s spine. She would declare “I am a Christian.” Tell me not that I am. I’m a mom. Tell me not that I am. Do not tell me that my children aren’t important to you. I want more McMorrows out there who are willing to be the voice of LGBTQ people, African Americans, Asian Americans, anyone who is not the straight, white, cisgender, usually male person who is attacking them, we could — we could move this country out of This is a terrible conversation That we are having right now.”

Translation: Without any “horrible” opposition, the Left must win. This is the spirit behind PBS.

Anchor Amna Nawaz pushes the Q-Anon lines again. David Brooks expressed how impressed he is with Smeary Allory.

Nawaz said “You’re not mistaken. These ideas have a lot to do with quality assurance. It used to be considered fringe. This is what we still refer to as fringe. Does it still count as fringe? Brooks replied that it was not fringe, but that “it’s lunatic.” It’s more than lunatic. It is cruelly lunatic and barbaric lunatic. She was reacting to this. Her personality was compelling, and I loved her..”

Brooks sounded the effete note that “some of the values where people like I live — urban, educated — shifting. The rest of the country is not moving. They’re now admitting that “a lot” of the country doesn’t have the right to appear on “public TV.”

Brooks complained that Brooks “has to fight that fight without being dominated, or frankly, without being dominated, by the freaks. We must keep the spirit of PBS alive.

Capehart complained about Bidens low approval numbers and said that the “right-wing echocham is so strong, regardless of what the president do, they are not going to be reporting on it.” This program is left-wing echocham.

JONATHAN CAPEHART: For far too long people on the left, elected Democrats, have — like I just said before, cowed in the face of these attacks, instead of standing up in their own — with their spines, and standing on their own two feet, and in their values and in their morals and saying, do not speak for me. Do not speak — I’m a Christian. Tell me I’m not. I’m a mom. Tell me not that I am. Tell me not to tell you that I don’t care for my kids or any other children.

There should be more McMorrows. But she is not the only one. Last week, Ian Mackey, a Michigan state representative, went at a colleague who proposed anti-LGBT legislation and said to him directly: It’s because of people like you that friends of mine decided to leave the state because they no longer — they didn’t feel safe.

And so, if we had more Mackeys, if we had more McMorrows, who are willing to be the voice of LGBTQ people, African Americans, Asian Americans, anyone who is not the straight, white, cisgender, usually male person who is attacking them, we could — we could move this country out of this horrible conversation that we’re having now.

AMNA NAWAZ (All of it): This broad term covers all. It’s called culture wars. It covers a variety of issues including those Jonathan mentioned, as well as the one the state senator spoke about.

David specifically isn’t wrong. Many of those ideas have a very high quality. This dangerous conspiracy theory is now fringe. This is what we still refer to as fringe. What is it called?

DAVID BROOKS : I would not say that QAnon was fringe anymore. There’s a lot — there’s tens of millions of people who are somewhat affiliated with QAnon, so I wouldn’t say it’s fringe.

Two things are happening. Two are the psychosis, pizzagate, grooming and all of that. That — we can’t say it’s fringe, but I can at least say it’s crazy. It’s lunatic. It’s more than lunatic. It is cruelly lunatic and barbaric lunatic. She was reacting to this. She was a compelling person, I thought.

Next, there is the culture. It’s called culture war or cultural diversity. You can see the World Values Survey which compares values around the world. It shows that both people from English-speaking countries and those in Protestant Europe are experiencing a shift in their values.

The values of the rest are quite different. The same is true in our country. Some of my values are urban, educated and shifting. Most of the country does not shift.

We are seeing wider chasms over values, on all sorts of topics. For example, teaching sexuality to schoolkids. That fight must be fought without the help of the crazies.

This fight is unnecessary. This stuff needs to be discussed. Because it has been overpoliticized, this discussion is now being submerged. When you make a debate about hard issues into partisan politics you destroy it.
