How often did we hear, “The buck stops here,” from the media during the Trump years? No matter how deserved it may have been, journalists held the Republican President accountable for any bad things that occurred in this country. With Joe Biden as the Democratic nominee, standards have fallen significantly. We’re seeing this play out now as media outlets refuse to blame the president for the current economic woes.
This Thanksgiving Day, Washington Post CNN economic columnist Catherine Rampell was spinning for the Biden administration’s benefit. At host Jessica Dean’s prompting, she ordered the majority of Americans who disapprove of the president’s handling of the economy, not to blame the administration:
“[A] new NPR/Marist survey finds Americans’ view of Biden’s job approval overall mirrors how they view his handling of the economy,” Dean noted adding that inflation was a top concern. She suggested that Biden didn’t deserve to be scrutinized over the economy. “Catherine, is President Biden to blame? Should he be — should his approval rating be tied to this, are these things under his control?” she questioned.
Rampell laughed off the suggestion that Biden deserved to be blamed. “[T]When asked if presidents should be properly credited for the economic situation, I will always respond with “Yes!” presidents get too much credit when the economy is good and too much blame when the economy is bad,” Sie argued.
Even though the pandemic is two years old, PostInstead, columnists claimed that the pandemic was to blame:
“Inflation is up not because of any particular thing that the president did. This is due to all the supply chain disruptions around the globe caused by the pandemic. Demand is up,” she claimed.
She also blamed Americans for having money from the stimulus, “burning a hole in their pocket:”
This is partially due to some fiscal policy decisions made by congress, this president, and the former president. They gave people more stimulus checks and other things. It is not surprising that they had saved a lot over the past year. Their money is in the bank. They have money in the bank. They would like to spend it.
Rampell even claimed that these government payments more than covered any financial problems the average American family faced the past two years: “They should have some advantage due to the recent government transfers. These should be more than offset by the loss of income due to the common family’s wage erosion..”
Rampell clearly lives in a bubble. But she refuses to be blamed for Biden.
It is also difficult for goods to be sourced through the supply chains. Inflation is a result of all this. This is also happening globally. This isn’t Biden’s fault.Biden also has very little he can do to change it.
So it’s the pandemic, supply chain, and Americans’ spending habits…but definitely not any policies from the president.
Fox News criticized several media outlets that downplayed inflation, pointing out Biden and all of CNN’s faults.
Friday Fox &FriendsRachel Campos Duffy is a host and reads some of the most disturbing headlines in media.
Americans feel the effects of rising prices. However, some media outlets are downplaying the main concerns of U.S. householders. Yahoo writing well, ‘maybe Christmas shortages are a gift’ to TIME concluding quote ‘how Americans shoppers broke the supply chain.’ They are taking cues from President Biden, and laughing at this serious issue.
“I can’t imagine the inflation being this way under Trump and the media saying ‘hey, it’s the shopper’s fault. You are responsible. “It’s not the Biden policy,” Duffy informed Lara Trump.
Trump blasted the media’s approach: “It’s really not a great strategy, Rachel, to ridicule the American people who are struggling this holiday season and say ‘well, gosh, this was all your fault’, that’s really the way they want to go with this?”
She called out the media “coddling” President Biden while he visited his billionaire friends this Thanksgiving as Americans struggle:
However, it’s not likely that Joe Biden is being called out on his actions by mainstream media. You almost feel like he was proud of it. This is something I’m sure you have done a lot of by going to this multi-billionaire compound. It also happens to be one the wealthiest zip codes in America. He’s very comfortable there while American people are struggling. People aren’t as happy as they used to be 10 months ago, before Joe Biden was elected. You’ll see this more often, I think. This is what we know. They loved him. He was allowed to do whatever he wanted. We know we will see more comfortable interviews with Al Roker at the parade than if they had an actual interview asking Joe Biden how he plans to help American citizens.

CATHERINE RAMPELL : The economy has been doing well on many indicators, as you pointed out. Historical standards show that unemployment is low. It is lower today than during the boom in housing in 2000s, and it has been below any time since the Obama presidency. It is performing well in the stock market. Gdp is now higher than it was before the pandemic, although it’s not as high as it should be. As our viewers have just seen, retail sales are on the rise. The economy is looking good on all metrics. Consumer sentiment however is not good right now. This is due to inflation. Consumers feel that their living standards are being reduced because of the rising cost of living.
They should have some advantage due to the recent government transfers. These should be more than offset by the loss of income due to the common family’s wage erosion. let’s say. However, people worry that inflation will not stop. People are concerned that wages won’t keep pace with inflation. So, despite the positive numbers that you mentioned, many people feel very pessimistic about this economy.
JESSICA DANE: A new NPR/marist poll shows that Americans’ perception of Biden’s approval of their job is mirrored in how they see his economic management. As you mentioned, inflation ranks high in viewers’ minds. If you asked people their top economic worries, they were shocked to see inflation at 39% followed by wage, labor shortages and unemployment at the bottom. Catherine, is President Biden to blame? Do you think he should be?
RAMPELL: I’ll say what I have always said when I was asked whether Presidents should be properly credited with economic conditions. The president gets too much credit for a good economy and too little blame when it is not. Or too much blame for parts of the economy that are bad or parts or parts of the economy that are good. This is exactly what the current situation looks like. It is not due to any one thing the president did. This is due to all the supply chain disruptions around the globe caused by the pandemic. The demand is rising.
It is partly due to the fact that this president and congress made some important fiscal policy choices, such as giving stimulus checks and other things. However, it’s also due to the fact that there was a significant increase in savings over last year. Their money is in the bank. They have money in the bank. They are eager to spend the money. They are also trying to purchase more than before the pandemic. This means that they shift more of their expenditure to goods. It is also difficult for goods to be sourced through the supply chains. Inflation is a result of all this. This is also happening globally. This isn’t Biden’s fault.Biden is limited in his ability to change the situation. Biden can make some changes at the margins. He’s kinda made efforts to get ports operating at longer hours for example. HE could have done more for illegal immigrants to get work permits faster than what the administration did. All of that will probably not be enough to make a big difference. The only thing we want to see is change. We need to look at the pandemic from a different perspective and normalize supply chains so that people can buy goods anywhere in the world more conveniently, faster, and cheaper.

RACHEL CAPOS-DUFFY: Rising prices have a negative impact on Americans. Some media outlets are downplaying the main concerns of U.S. householders. Yahoo writing well, ‘maybe Christmas shortages are a gift’ to TIME concluding quote ‘how Americans shoppers broke the supply chain’ So are they taking a cue from President Biden and making light of this major issue? Fox Nation contributor Lara Trump will be joining us as we react. Lara, I’m glad you came to our Thanksgiving celebration. Is this really what it’s all about? I can’t imagine the inflation being this way under Trump and the media saying ‘hey, it’s the shopper’s fault. You are responsible. It’s not the Biden policies.’
LARA TRUMP: It’s unbelievable Rachel. Everyone, happy belated thanksgiving. It was an amazing day yesterday at our house. My kids likely had way too much sugar. This is the time to get it done. We got t out away way we’re moving on now. In terms of the coverage given to it by the media, it concerns inflation. It’s really not a great strategy, Rachel, to ridicule the American people who are struggling this holiday season and say ‘well, gosh, this was all your fault’, that’s really the way they want to go with this? Of course it doesn’t make sense to tell us again that we should lower our expectations. These expectations have already been reduced many times. You might not celebrate Christmas in the exact same manner you did last year. It’s okay to take them back. You don’t need as many gifts, and you won’t be able to celebrate the holidays in the same manner.
That is what Americans don’t want. Because this happened so easily, we are now frustrated. Americans can be very generous in difficult times. We are fed up when times of hardship occur because of policies and decisions of President Joe Biden, and the Democrat party. It is over. We’re so frustrated. We are now in a mess because of the policies he set up.
However, it’s not likely that Joe Biden is being called out by mainstream media. You almost feel like he was flaunting his wealth. This is something I’m sure you have done a lot of by going to this multi-billionaire compound. It also happens to be one the wealthiest zip codes in America. He’s very comfortable there while American people are struggling. People aren’t as happy as they used to be 10 months ago, before Joe Biden was elected. You’ll see this more often, I believe. This is what we know. They coddled him. He was allowed to do whatever he wanted. We know we will see more comfortable interviews with Al Roker at the parade than if they had an actual interview asking Joe Biden how he plans to help American citizens.
