As recent history has shown us, when leftists don’t get their way, absolute foolishness inevitably ensues. Not surprisingly, that’s exactly what happened in the aftermath of the Friday Supreme Court ruling where a majority of Justices agreed that Roe V. WadeIt must be reversed.
You had radical left-wing pro-abortion groups threatening violence in the streets – and carrying through in some instances. Democratic members of Congress like Reps. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) urged their supporters to get “into the streets” and “fight” in “defiance” of the ruling, using inflammatory rhetoric we’ve been assured over the last 18 months or so was designed to deliberately “incite” political extremists to commit violence.
There have also been unhinged celebrity reactions, which are as predictable as they often are. This includes the one by actor Samuel L. Jackson who foolishly ignorantly tweeted “How’s Uncle Clarence feeling about Overturning Loving v Virginia??!!” – apparently not realizing that SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas’ wife Ginni is white.
Hot celebrity take: Another star that made the headlines on Saturday Roe V. Wade being overruled was “Green Day” frontman and California native Billy Joe Armstrong, who told a London crowd during a Friday performance that he was renouncing his American citizenship in an expletive-filled rant where he trashed America:
“F— America, I’m f—ing renouncing my citizenship,” the “American Idiot” singer told the crowd. “I’m f—ing coming here.”
“There’s just too much f—ing stupid in the world to go back to that miserable f—ing excuse for a country,” Armstrong added. “Oh, I’m not kidding. You’re going to get a lot of me in the coming days.”
Armstrong continued berating the U.S. during his band’s show in Huddersfield, England the following day, saying “f— the Supreme Court of America” and calling its justices “pricks,” according to the Daily Mail.

While it’s no big shock that Armstrong would take a hard left position on this issue considering he’s no stranger to using his music to take political positions, he unintentionally made a larger point that needs amplifying.
When celebrities threaten to leave this country over politics, I’m of two mindsets, with the first one being “good riddance.” Reason being is not simply because I disagree with them politically, but over the fact that these people apparently care so little for their country that instead of staying and fighting for it based on their warped “principles” they’d rather just cut and run until the going “gets better” for them (or a Democrat president wins in the next election or the “right” judge gets confirmed to our nation’s highest court).
It’s a free country, of course, and people are allowed to leave it if they don’t like what’s happening, but it’s always struck me as cowardly in the extreme when people declare they hate it and that they are leaving when they don’t get their way. You can stay, make your case and win people’s attention. For these people, the only thing I can find is they didn’t really love their country. And if that’s the case with Armstrong, I say don’t let the door hit ya on the way out and oh, need help packing your bags, Mate?
The especially comical thing about Armstrong announcing he’s gonna reside across the pond for a while because of the abortion issue being pushed back to the states is this:
Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong says he’s renouncing citizenship and moving to the UK over the repeal of Roe V Wade. He should be told by someone that Europe has stricter abortion restrictions than the U.S. Actually, on second thought …

Think about that. The singer of “American Idiot” not knowing that the country he’ll hang his hat in for the foreseeable future is more restrictive on abortion that his native homeland. Armstrong is not the only one who sees art as life, and this time it’s in a bad way.
