“Like, You Know, Like, Whatever, You Know?”
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was mocked in a video released Monday for recently giving a light and bubbly talk about democratic socialism.
The supercut by Grabien News – titled “Like, You Know, Like, Whatever, You Know?”– ignored whatever substance there was to the freshman Democrat from New York’s discussion Saturday at the South by Southwest conference in Austin, Texas. Instead, the video compiled her dozens of uses of “like” and other fillers and asides.
A couple of Ocasio-Cortez’s headier quotes also made the cut, including: “Because we talk about racism so much we actually aren’t talking about race itself,” “We’re capable of such much [sic] than what we’re doing right now!,” and “We should be working the least amount we’ve ever worked.”

Ocasio-Cortez’s rhetorical flourishes were interspersed with clips of fawning treatment by her interviewer, The Intercept editor Briahna Gray, and bursts of applause from rapt audience members, who lined up to hear her speak as though she were a rock star.
The comments on the YouTube version of the video were ruthless, capturing the conservative consensus that Ocasio-Cortez is a dangerously amateurish and ill-informed policymaker.
“Ocrazy is the brain of the left…and that says it all LOL,” said one commenter.
“Green New Deal? It’s, like, you know. Because, whatever. applause,” someone else said, referring to Ocasio-Cortez’s signature legislative proposal.
“Bubble headed bimbo speak,” another jab read.
The production was a sequel to a similar video Grabien produced last year after Ocasio-Cortez appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” It was also reminiscent of Tim Young’s takedown of the congresswoman last month, which featured her alongside the “Cash me outside” girl.
