ABC’s Raddatz: Are Democrats ‘Getting Their Groove Back’?

On Sunday’s edition of ABC’s This WeekFill-in host Martha Raddatz, and Rick Klein, the political director were quick to grab their pom poms in support of Joe Biden.

During their “PowerHouse Roundtable” segment, the panel was debating who Biden might nominate to fill the seat of retiring Justice Stephen Breyer and how smoothly the confirmation process will go. Raddatz approached Klein at this stage and asked him what his thoughts were. “Democrats, Biden, are they kinda getting their groove back?”

Klein, like a great cheerleader for the leftist agenda said predictably “it certainly feels like it.” Then he gave a short list of reasons why he feels things are going well in Biden’s favor and for the Democrat Party.

“Look, you can see a scenario where Democrats look at the jobs numbers, they look at omicron, they see a President acting strong in foreign policy and they see an opportunity with the Supreme Court pick not just to get it confirmed but maybe to get bipartisanship.” Klein exclamated in joy.

Klein hoped that Biden would finally fulfill his pledge to transform Washington’s culture by getting a bipartisan support for his Supreme Court nominee.

As we talk about Judge Childs, you’ve got his closest ally, plus key Republicans saying pick this woman, we like her. And that’s a chance for Biden to make good on the overall pledge, the promise that he’s brought about changing the culture of Washington. He can still get the necessary majority of 50 votes to make a difference, but it’s not enough. In Washington today, 55-60 votes would be significant. This is an area where there is potential.

He had to make a scathing attack on Republicans. It is not enough to just smuggle up to Democrats. “they have a time to change that narrative to change the story that’s being told and contrasting that with Republican chaos, this was a good couple of days.”

Biden, the Democrats and Republicans have found their groove and are back in control. ABC News offers this type of analysis. No wonder people don’t trust the media anymore.

MARTHA RADDATZ: Rick, I want to go back to you, because we’ve been watching what you’ve been writing this week and what you’ve been talking about. Biden Democrats, is it like they’re getting back their groove?

RICK KLEIN : Yes, it does feel like that. You can imagine a situation where Democrats are looking at the job numbers and omicron. They see President Trump acting in strong foreign policy. And they see an opportunity to pick the Supreme Court not only to confirm it but also to achieve bipartisanship. There’s an actually really interesting question that the President will have to confront as we talk about Judge Childs, you’ve got his closest ally, plus key Republicans saying pick this woman, we like her. And that’s a chance for Biden to make good on the overall pledge, the promise that he’s brought about changing the culture of Washington. He can still get the necessary majority of 50 votes to make a difference, but it’d be impressive to have 55 votes or 60 votes in Washington. There’s a chance here. I believe Biden is able to do this, and so are the Democrats, even with all of the bad signals that surround Democrats for the midterms. They have a time to change that narrative to change the story that’s being told and contrasting that with Republican chaos, this was a good couple of days.
