ABC News is ashamed. This network is desperate to cover up the fact that they have lost an ex-client. Good Morning AmericaChris Cuomo as cohost was involved deeply in an attempt to minimize, dismiss and investigate the accusations of Andrew Cuomo (ex-New York Governor) regarding sexual abuse.
CBS however, discovered shocking evidence against Chris on Tuesday, after having ignored the story. NBC also covered this story well, which is refreshing.
On Monday, ABC completely avoided the younger Cuomo’s role in the growing scandal, instead focusing entirely on the disgraced Andrew Cuomo. On Tuesday Good Morning AmericaFinally, journalists got to speak about their co-host. However, it only lasts 28 seconds.
A story about the former Governor of New York GMA reporter Trevor Ault’s allowed less than half a minute in a three minute and five second segment on Andrew Cuomo. This should be noted, GMAIt takes two hours to complete.
This morning, newly released text messages reveal new details into how his brother, CNN host Chris Cuomo, played an active role in advising the former governor’s response, helping write statements and using his sources to get information about accusers. CNN saying they’ll review the newly released materials and that, quote, “We will be having conversations and seeking additional clarity about their significance as they relate to CNN over the next several days.”
CBS Evening NewsThe Cuomo brothers could not be reached Monday night. On Tuesday CBS Mornings Finally, we got to the bottom of both Andrew’s and Chris Cuomo’s allegations. Jericka Duncan (correspondent) revealed that Chris Cuomo attempted to obtain information about a future event. CBS Evening News interview anchor Norah O’Donnell secured with an accuser of the governor:
Text messages reveal [Chris Cuomo]He was in constant contact with Melissa DeRosa, his brother’s top adviser. In one, he begs to help the governor’s prep for responses and in another he says he will use his sources to find out about possible new accusers coming forward. An e-mail from CBS News regarding Norah O’Donnell’s interview with Andrew Cuomo’s former assistant executive was even forwarded to Chris Cuomo for his thoughts on the then-upcoming story. CNN said that they are now reviewing the documents and will continue to seek clarification about their relevance as it relates to CNN.
NBC offered riveting coverage. Unlike the other networks, NBC reported on the story seriously Monday night, and Tuesday morning. On Tuesday’s Today, co-host Hota Kotb even discussed a potential firing of Chris Cuomo from CNN: “CNN’s Chris Cuomo comes under fire for his involvement in the defense of his brother. Will it cost the anchor his job?”
Anne Thompson from NBC pointed out the way Chris Cuomo ignored this subject on his CNN program:
CNN’s anchor on the hot seat today. Chris Cuomo’s brother and Chris Cuomo exchanged text messages in which he offered his top aides to assist him. Also, the documents reveal that the younger Cuomo made statements for the governor at the time. CNN currently examines the entire trove. Chris Cuomo’s Monday night CNN show was simply business as usual
Reporters and network hosts should feel disgusted at the alleged attempts to stop women speaking out about their sexual abuse. However, ABC seems to be ignoring Chris Cuomo’s connection with the network in its former days.
