ABC & CBS Rediscover Biden Border Crisis, NBC Ignores

The Biden Border Crisis that had been plaguing border towns in Arizona and Texas was finally discovered by two evening news broadcasters on Thursday night. Because they cannot handle the swelling number of migrants, the governors of both Texas and Arizona were forced to transport migrants from their respective states to Washington D.C. or New York City.

ABC News World News Tonight, correspondent Mireya Villarreal reported that the “U.S. nears a record-breaking two million migrant encounters in one year.” While reporting from the ground in Eagle Pass, Texas, Villarreal gave a play-by-play of what she witnessed:

As we stand on the ground at Eagle Pass, Texas, watching as hundreds of migrants enter the United States, it is fascinating to observe. Two things that I find interesting is the fact that we can clearly see that some of these children crossed the river very young. It looks like they are 5-6 years of age.

Villarreal reported that “while millions of migrants have been expelled using Title 42, the rule that lets agents kick out migrants without processing their asylum claims to stop the spread of COVID, many of those expelled simply turn around and come right back with little to no consequence.”

There are more CBS Evening News, anchor Norah O’Donnell opened her report by noting how “the number of migrants apprehended entering the U.S. could hit a record 2 million this year. And that is intensifying the debate over whether asylum seekers should be sent to places like New York City.”

Correspondent Manuel Bojorquez who was also on the ground in Eagle Pass, Texas, revealed “yet another group including children have just arrived on this side of the border.”

“Since April 7900 migrants have been taken by bus to New York City and Washington D.C. Despite the objections of the mayors there who call it a political stunt that is taxing their resources” Bojorquez added.

ABC & CBS’s sudden discovery of the Biden border crisis was made possible by Angi on ABC, and Nature’s Bounty on CBS. NBC’s omission of the Biden border crisis during Thursday night’s newscast was made possible by Liberty Mutual. They are linked.

LINSEY DAVIS – Now, to the current crisis at the Mexican border. Record numbers of migrants attempt to cross the border from Mexico to escape violence and poverty back home. Both Arizona governors and Texas Governor Rick Perry are currently busing thousands more asylum seekers into New York City. Mireya Villarreal from ABC is in Eagle Pass (Texas).

MIREYA VILLARREAL: As the U.S. closes in on a new record of two million migrants crossing the border each year, tonight we were able to get a bird’s-eye view from Texas DPS. A group of four to five migrants have crossed into the U.S. and another group has just crossed the Rio Grande. It looks as though they will be caught by ground crews.

On the ground at Eagle Pass, Texas we can watch as many migrants make their way into the United States. Two things that I find interesting is the fact that we can clearly see that some of these children crossed the river very young. The children are probably 5-6 years of age. The Venezuelan family we met was just minutes from their arrival in the United States.

It was about their children’s future. However, right now they have no options. Victor and Little Estefania say that they would like to study English and want to get a job. I asked them if they would like to board one of Governor Abbott’s buses to New York.

MANUEL CASTRO: New York Governor Abbott has used innocent humans as a weapon. It is wrong.

VILLARREAL: Texas Governor Greg Abbott telling our Byron Pitts —

TEXAS GOVERNOR GREG ABBOTT

VILLARREAL. While Title 42 allows agents to expel millions of migrants, it does not allow them to process asylum claims. Many of the expelled migrants simply return to their home countries with no or little consequence. This group was quickly gathered. They took their details. The border patrol stated that they could not request asylum. They then pulled them onto the bridge. They are now walking back to Mexico. This is Title 42. This vicious cycle is unbreakable and there’s no way out.

NORAH O’DONNELL: We want to go now to the southern border where the number of migrants apprehended entering the U.S. could hit a record 2 million this year. This is intensifying debate about whether asylum seekers should go to New York City. Tonight, CBS’s Manuel Bojorquez brings us to Texas.

MANUEL BOJORQUEZ : Asylum seekers were processed at the border and arrived at the Valverde border humanitarian alliance in Del Rio (Texas). As they wait for a bus, some asylum seekers stop at the Valverde border humanitarian coalition in Del Rio, Texas. Ed Zohn Gutierrez (Venezuela) has their information written down.

[…]

BOJORQUEZ – They could end up 150 miles from San Antonio, where they will be met by a staff member who prepares buses to transport migrants to New York City or Washington D.C. It is not a new idea to bus migrants from Texas. But as the number of apprehensions along the border remain at record highs, it’s become the latest flash point in the debate over the nation’s immigration policy.

[…]

BOJORQUEZ – This is despite the fact that about half the people detained at the border were sent home under Title 42, Trump’s pandemic policy. This policy does not apply to Venezuelans, Nicaraguans, or Cubans in crisis. However, most of those who we saw along the border were from Venezuela.

Another group of children has arrived just behind me in Eagle Pass Texas. Since April, 7900 migrants have traveled by bus from Mexico to New York City. The mayors in New York City and Washington D.C. object to this, calling it a political stunt.
