A Preview of What a Gavin Newsom Presidency Would Look Like – Opinion

Gavin Newsom is gearing up to run for the presidency. California, within his state budget allocation of 2022-2023, will be the first state that offers all undocumented immigrants state-subsidized healthcare insurance.

This plan by Newsom is similar to the single-payer health care system proposed by Bernie Sanders called “Medicare for All,” except it will guarantee healthcare to undocumented people as well. The Hill claims that the plan provides health insurance funded by the state for eligible residents. Additionally, 700,000. undocumented migrants aged 26 to 49 will be covered. It is expected to begin on January 1, 2024.

As things stand, all those currently without insurance will get it. It is unclear how it will be paid for, but it will likely be through the state’s surplus or from the hard-working taxpayers. It is important to ensure everyone has health care coverage; however, citizens who pay for their own healthcare coverage should not be responsible for paying for other people’s healthcare as well.

Homelessness is exploding in California’s state capitol. Although veteran homelessness is down, there are still many veterans living in shelters. California Governor Newsom and California officials are not committed to helping the homeless get rehabilitation services or mental healthcare for the people who require it. Nor have they done anything about reducing the flow of drugs into California from the open-air markets.

Los Angeles County officials claim that almost 2,000 homeless people were killed in the first year of the pandemic. This was not due to COVID-19, but rather because of drug overdoses. Newsom said that many of the cities in his state are like third-world countries.

Newsom-backed DA George Gascon (now-recalled DA Chesa Bourdin) has made crime rampant across major cities including San Francisco and Los Angeles. If the petition reaches sufficient verified signatures before July 6, the voters of Los Angeles County can recall Gascon. Newsom supported prop 47, which lowers the theft and drug possession offenses to felonies.

California has many wonderful things, such as being the country’s fifth-largest economic state. Gavin Newsom has made California unsafe. There are many encampments throughout major cities. The open-air drug market increased their presence. 40 percent of small businesses had to close down permanently due to lockdowns. Newsom’s refusal to stop the state gas tax and Newsom’s refusal to suspend it by the Democratic supermajority assembly have also caused a mass exodus. For the first time ever, California’s population shrank in 2020. In 2021, it also fell. Many reasons are driving people to vote with their feet. But California is worth fighting for because the saying “As goes California, so goes the nation” holds true to this day.

Any time Newsom has been in charge of a city or state, homelessness has increased, and crime has increased as he looks to appease special interests instead of the citizens’ wants and needs. Newsom talks big and bold, but he doesn’t deliver. Newsom serves his own interests and will continue to do so. Instead of looking out on the people, Newsom governs. He doesn’t listen to them and makes the necessary changes to California to be livable and safe.

A Gavin Newsom presidency is a catastrophe for America, to quote a Californian.
