A Despondent Chuck Todd Sounds Alarm Bells for Joe Biden After Devastating New Poll Released – Opinion

Every once in a while I hear NBC News’ “Meet the Press” program jokingly referred to as “Meet the Depressed,” and in my opinion that characterization was never more fitting than it was this past Sunday when a panel of sullen-looking liberally biased journalists and partisan commentators were hitting the panic button after a new NBC News poll was released that showed a bleak outlook for President Biden and Congressional Democrats headed into the 2022 midterms campaign season.

Before we get to the clip, let’s take a look at some of the numbers:

And during the nation’s largest inflation spike in 40 years, overwhelming majorities said they believe the country is headed in the wrong direction and disapproved of the president’s handling of the economy.

Those are some of the major findings of the new national NBC News poll, which found that Biden’s overall job approval rating had declined to 40 percent, the lowest level of his presidency. The survey also found that Republicans enjoyed a 2-point lead in answering which party should control Congress ahead of November’s midterm elections.

The significance of the party control numbers was of particular interest to despondent “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd, who pointed out this is the first time since 2014 that the GOP has led Democrats on the generic Congressional ballot in an NBC News poll:

You’ll see 46/44; Republicans up by two. That’s a coin flip. This is the first time we’ve had Republicans leading on the generic ballot in our poll since September of 2014; eight years ago. There’s always a little bit of a Democratic – because Democrats are more packed in some districts here. This is a red flag.

NBC News political correspondent and numbers cruncher Steve Kornacki put an even finer point on the numbers in the below segment, noting that Biden’s numbers are particularly devastating for Democrats on the issue of the economy, as voters’ top concerns are the cost of living and jobs/the economy:

As I’ve said before, it doesn’t matter what else is going on in the country or in the world, for that matter. Kitchen table voters who are struggling to make ends meets, can’t find steady work and don’t have enough food for their families, then the party at the top will often lose the election.

Todd may be the definition of a Democrat apologist but he has been raising alarm bells for Democrats since a couple months. There isn’t any rosy spin anyone can spin to explain the results that Biden and Democrats have received over the past six months.

I mean even Ron Klain, Biden’s chief of staff, now seems to be throwing him under the bus as the wheels continue to fall off the Biden Express. When you’re a Democrat and you’ve lost Ron Klain, you know it’s bad…
