Colbert Rants at SCOTUS For Potential Abortion Ruling

Stephen Colbert’s reaction to the potential overturn of Roe v Wade was everything you’d expect from The Late Show Host: Unhinged and emotional.

Colbert was a Catholic from the Biden/Pelosi tradition and went on a fast 10-minute rant about SCOTUS’s decision to allow babies to live in safe wombs.

“Well, s—t,” Colbert said on his Tuesday show, lamenting the fact that he would no longer be able to focus on the 2022 Met Gala and would instead have to talk about, “Another group of out of touch people in crazy outfits pretending like it’s 1895 – the Supreme Court.”

Here’s his full rant. Fair-warning, it’s a doozy:

The most interesting aspect of Colbert’s rant is when he says that the justices who want to overturn Roe affirmed in their conformation hearings that the ruling was a precedent set by previous justices of the Supreme Court. Colbert believes that simply acknowledging that it is precedent means you agree to the decision. However, agreeing something is precedent is not the same thing as wanting to keep it. The justices have more power than theirs to examine a precedent to overturn it if they find it wrong. Colbert probably knows this, but let’s not let reason stop Colbert from expressing his performative passion.

Accept it. Colbert, and many of his friends will have the exact same reaction. Roe It is overturned.
