The View: Biden Staff Launching Racist ‘Macroaggressions’ at Kamala

The ladies love Joe Biden, as much as the men do. The ViewAdmire and have greater respect for Kamala Harris, Vice President. They spoke with each other Monday. New York TimesAlexander Burns, author Jonathan Martin talks about his book This will not workThe palace intrigue is a constant theme in this room. Aside from the anti-Trump portions, the cast zeroed in on the claims that Harris felt disrespected by Biden’s West Wing staff not standing when she entered a room.

They returned to the commercial after a segment featuring Martin and Burns on former President Trump (R-CA) and Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy. Martin noted that Harris doesn’t have the experience in the Senate compared to Biden and has no useful expertise, thus it’s “created tensions with the West Wing.”

Amplifying the tensions are Harris’s insecurities and complaints that Biden’s staff isn’t standing up when she enters a room, as Martin explained:

In the book, we have one scene. She feels disrespected by the West Wing staffers she observes when she enters the room. They aren’t standing for her and always support President Biden as he walks in to the room. And she had her chief of staff telephone somebody in the West Wing and say, ‘She’s noticed this. Tell the staff. When the VP walks into the room, they are to stand.’

Burns suggested that there might be an “unmistakable context of identity for this too” since the “Biden inner circle is overwhelmingly white,” “largely male,” and “have largely been with Biden for a very, very long time.”

“Well, protocol is protocol. So, they need to follow that,” huffed co-host Sunny Hostin despite the fact it’s unclear what the actual protocol is.

The solution proposed by co-host Whoopi Goldberg was to drag everyone into “a giant meeting” and lecture everyone. “Because we know that everybody has little microaggressions that they may not be aware that they’re putting out there,”She said.

And if they still wouldn’t worship Harris, then they should be fired. “So let’s have this big meeting and if I see you do it again, you’re out,” she declared.

Martin replied that Biden did similar things when it was time for leaking information to the press.

Biden is the man who has set that law. We have a scene in the book where Biden tells people plainly, tells his staff plainly, I should say, ‘if I hear about any of you leaking about the vice president, you’re fired.’

Martin mentioned at the beginning of the segment that Biden’s uncertain second term was the background for the tension. But co-host Joy Behar couldn’t understand why the aging President wouldn’t stick around for another four years, so Martin had to spell it out for her:

What is BEHAR?

MARTIN: Based on the fact that he’ll be 82 years old in 2024, and that they’re skeptical that he’s going to serve a full second term or he would want to serve a full second term. This raises the question: if not Biden who? This is what informs the Kamala Harris news.

SARA HAINES: Your article discusses the relationship between President and Vice President. You also discuss some tension and times when the vice-president feels disrespected. Let’s talk about it and see how this could all play out against the background of 2024.

JONATHAN MARTIN says yes. It’s all about shaping 2024. Unlike modern American history and many other instances, Biden is not running to be reelected in 2024. Recent years haven’t seen a first-term President where it wasn’t clear if they would be running for the next election. That is exactly what Biden did. This makes it all the more fascinating.

ANA NAVARRO – He made two jokes at the White House Correspondents Dinner where he referenced his running for office again.

MARTIN : He is interested in running. He’s told people that we talked for our book that he plans to run in ’24 for reelection unless there’s a health issue intervening. Many Democrats doubt that. They’re convinced he’s not going to run again.

JOY BEAR: What’s the basis?

MARTIN: Based on the fact that he’ll be 82 years old in 2024, and that they’re skeptical that he’s going to serve a full second term or he would want to serve a full second term. This raises the question: if not Biden who? That’s how Kamala Harir news is created.

Although she’s only been in Congress for a short time, she doesn’t know Washington as well as Biden. She was therefore unable to fulfill the same role as Biden when he was Vice President on Capitol Hill. And she also didn’t have any foreign policy experience. My view is that her problem has been to find her niche and this has caused tensions with West Wing.

There’s a scene in our book where she feels disregarded because when she walks in, she can see staffers from West Wing who don’t stand for her. And they are always there to support President Biden. And she had her chief of staff telephone somebody in the West Wing and say, ‘She’s noticed this. Tell the staff. When the VP walks into the room, they are to stand.’

ALEXANDER BURNS: We have to face reality. For this, there is also the unmistakable context identity. Right? The Biden inner circle of friends is almost entirely white. They are mainly male and have been associated with Biden for an extensive period of time. Anyone who is new to Biden will quickly tell you that it’s a difficult nut to crack. The Vice President has also experienced difficulties in getting close to the president.

SUNNY HOSTIN : Protocol is protocol. They must follow it.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG (Yes). Don’t you think it would behoove everyone to maybe have a giant meeting and say, ‘let’s go over how this actually works so that everybody is clear?’” Because we know that everybody has little microaggressions that they may not be aware —

MARTIN: Right. Right.

GOLDBERG – That they put out there. Also, let’s meet up and see if we can do it again.

MARTIN : By the way, Biden has set the standard in this regard. We have a scene in the book where Biden tells people plainly, tells his staff plainly I should say, ‘if I hear about any of you leaking about the vice president, you’re fired.’ So that has put a scare into some folks in the West Wing.

BURNS: Though not enough to stop the leaks to –

MARTIN : However, it is not enough for us to keep the book’s leaks from coming out tomorrow.
