Different rules were in place for each state throughout the entire COVID-19 pandemic. In this case, I’m not talking about varying mitigation measures, with some having mask mandates, some having lockdowns, some having vaccine passports, and some having none of the above. While I’m against essentially all policies that crush individual liberty, you can at least respect the federalist principles at play in allowing states to make those calls.
Rather, what I’m talking about is the federal government’s response to various outbreaks depending on where they happen. The media compliantly obsesses about Florida, while neglecting New York, despite New York being far more affected by the pandemic. This complete absence of any standard makes Gretchen Whitmer a hero and Greg Abbott a villain.
We are now back in the summer 2021 when the red states were both maligned for being the ongoing cause of pandemic and were effectively left to rot under federal guidelines that were oppressively stupid. However, all of this has changed suddenly.
As RedState reported, Dr. Anthony Fauci actually admitted that the CDC’s latest move to limit isolation periods and stop the administering of PCR tests was to “keep society moving.”
Dr. Fauci says: “There’s a risk that too many people will become isolated, and they could be asymptomatic for a full ten days. This can have a serious impact on the ability of society to function.” The decision was taken to reduce that amount by half. pic.twitter.com/RWykc6A2Ge

Fauci, and all other officials of the administration were unable to provide that conciliatory tone when the South experienced its summer wave. The federal government was actually hostile and unwilling to compromise on any issue, even cutting monoclonal antibody supplies to Florida.
But things are different now because it’s the “good states” that are getting slammed.
We are witnessing the open discrimination of an administration towards its citizens. It was a Pensacola rogue who received COVID. The federal government considered it a moral failing and did not merit a review. Yet, when it is elites testing positive from Georgetown, the administration is suddenly very flexible and is willing to do what’s necessary to keep society moving.
But society doesn’t just exist in and around the Acela Corridor. It also includes Memphis, Jackson and Dallas as well as many other red-state cities that received no such courtesy. These Northeastern, beltway-dwelling apparatchiks run the government and see two Americas. They see those who live without the state government trappings as a threat to their rights and are not worthy of fairness.
Governors such as Ron DeSantis telling Biden “pound sand” have been crucial. It’s not just about owning the libs. It’s about putting a marker down that we won’t be bullied and we won’t abide by double standards. The federal government is discriminating openly against Americans based their political beliefs.
This is why no one should accept the recent case number and COVID guidance flipflop as any other than pure opportunism. Democrats seek to shield their constituents while shifting the blame from them. Don’t let them get away with it. Let them take control of their own tyranny.
