Evacuation at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport Raises False Flag About an Active Shooter – Opinion

Hartsfield-Jackson Airport in Atlanta was rocked by a weapons fire this afternoon. After a weapon was discharged at security screening, flights were canceled and the airport evacuated.

Via the airport’s Twitter feed:

At approximately 1:30 pm today a weapon accidently discharged at ATL’s security screening area. At the airport, there is not an active shooter. APD are on scene. We will provide more information on the situation via our social media channels.

The state of American life was such that the initial thought was of an active shooter. Many ran with it.

I’m at the Atlanta airport. Following security I was waiting to board the tram that ran below the escalators. The security personnel heard yelling, and there was an escalator full of people running down it. There were rumors about an active shooter. We all caught the train, and we continued on. That’s what I know. Terminal is calm.

The airport’s Twitter feed quickly sent out an update:

An active shooter is not possible. The Airport was the victim of an accident discharge. The incident is not a danger for employees or passengers. The investigation continues, and more information about this channel will be made available.

Waiting is hard and can lead to uncertainty. So, along with passengers (and others) questions about flights, wait times, and whether they would be allowed to exit the airport, there were the typical hot takes on Georgia gun laws and America’s obsession with guns.

However, we don’t have any idea as to what caused this incident. How do we know that it wasn’t a federal Air Marshal going through security and TSA failed to handle his or her weapon properly? How do we know it wasn’t a pilot? They are allowed to fly with their pilots in certain situations.

Fearful and distressing situations that require evacuation are frightening. According to commentary, Atlanta Airport did not evacuate. great jobOf allaying fears.

There was no danger to human lives. The humans’ mental and emotional state is another story.
