9/11 Families React as Drone Strike Kills Al Qaeda Leader Ayman al-Zawahiri – Opinion

In a bit of a poetic justice moment, 9/11 families celebrate as a drone strike takes down Al Qaeda’s terrorist leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, but they note that more needs to be done to hold plotters accountable.

As RedState’s Streiff reported, al-Zawahiri was killed by a CIA drone strike outside Kabul, Afghanistan. President Biden addressed the nation, saying, in part: “Now justice has been done. This terrorist leader is no more.”

According to 9/11 Justice, a grassroots organization that includes 9/11 survivors and family members of those who have lost loved ones that day as well as first responders, this victory was called a victory. The latest win against terrorist was a huge success for them.

“This is a significant step forward and is particularly meaningful to the 9/11 community as we continue our years-long battle for justice and accountability.”

The group urged Biden to declassify documents about Saudi Arabia’s involvement in the terrorist attacks on 9/11.

“We urge President Biden to continue to stand with the 9/11 community and all those who seek justice by holding Saudi Arabia accountable for the 9/11 attacks.”

According to Fox News, the national chair of 9/11 Families United, Terry Strada, mentioned that she was “grateful for the commitment of intelligence agencies and the military’s dedication and sacrifices made in removing such threats.”

Biden must also hold Saudi officials accountable for the damages they caused.

“The financiers are not being targeted by drones, they are being met with fist pumps and hosted at golf clubs … If we’re going to be serious about accountability, we must hold everyone accountable.”

Brad Blakeman is a senior adviser to George W. Bush. He was the nephew of a former president.

“It was a long day in coming. It should have been done a long time ago if we had had the opportunity … What really dismays me is the fact that why is the United States always the one to take action against the terrorists when they’re harbored in sovereign countries like Afghanistan and Pakistan in the case of (Osama) bin Laden? Why are these countries giving safe haven to … these murderers and terrorists … So, while I thank the U.S. for taking such bold action, I’m mad as hell that these countries are harboring these horrible people.”

As Osama bin Laden’s deputy in 1998, then his successor, Ayman al-Zawahiri shaped al Qaeda more than anyone. Zawahiri turned the jihadi movement against America, and bin Laden did the same. This resulted the worst attack on American soil. We pay tribute to the 2977 terrorists killed.

Politics aside this victory is huge for America as it means that another terrorist, part of 9/11, has been killed.
