Why Does Our Government Need So Many Guns?

“Astanding military force, with an overgrown Executive will not long be safe companions to liberty.”—James Madison

Some conspiracy theories contain at least a semblance of truth, and that is what gives them validity to those who are on the right.

Another theory is that they are not supported by the federal government. As an example, conservatives have expressed concern about the 87,000-plus new IRS agents. The trust in the IRS is in decline since the time President Richard Nixon made use of it as a tool against his political opponents. Lois Lerner Many conservative religious and political organizations were not exempted from tax during Obama’s administration.

It isn’t just politics. Americans for Tax ReformA politically conservative U.S. advocacy organisation based in Washington, D.C., listed 10 instances of the IRS’s outrageous behavior. You can check them out.

Another reason Americans who are on the right side of the political spectrum tend to be conservative is because they believe in equality. just now becoming aware of the number of weapons associated with government entities, including some departments within the IRS.

I was unaware of the existence of a constitutional attorney until then. John Whitehead, president of the Rutherford Institute, a conservative Christian public interest law firm based in Charlottesville, Virginia, sent me a list of federal agencies that have weapons we didn’t know about, though various media have occasionally reported on the subject over the years.

Here’s the list from the Rutherford Institute that Whitehead sent me, which he says he compiled from those few media that did report on the subject:

  • Recent years have seen the IRS accumulate 4,500 guns along with 5 million rounds ammunition. This includes 621 shotguns and 539 long-barrel guns, as well as 15 submachine guns. If true, an explanation is needed so that conspiracy theories don’t multiply.
  • 11. million rounds of ammunition were purchased by the Veterans Administration (VA). This is equivalent to 2800 rounds per officer. Also included in their purchase was camouflage uniforms, shields, and riot helmets. Tactical lighting and specialized image enhancement tools and tactical lighting. That’s ironic since many veterans used weapons to defend the nation. They are now considered potential enemies of government that many of them have fought for.
  • The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), acquired 4,000,000 rounds of ammunition and 1,300 guns. This includes five submachine guns and two automatic guns for the Office of Inspector General.
  • An in-depth report from the Rutherford Institute reveals “The Militarization of the U.S. Executive Agencies,” the Social Security Administration secured 800,000 rounds of ammunition for their special agents, as well as armor and guns. Seniors, beware!
  • 600 guns belong to the Environmental Protection Agency. And the Smithsonian Institution now employs 620-armed “special agents.” You’d better not get near those dinosaurs, or litter the highway, or else.

Do we need to be worried? These agencies are funded by the Congress. Members should have asked secretaries and directors of these agencies why they are so desperate for this kind of firepower. Why haven’t the broadcast networks and major newspapers conducted investigations?

The 2017 Annual Report Forbes magazine article reported “The Small Business Administration (SBA) spent tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars to load its gun locker with Glocks last year. The SBA wasn’t alone – the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service modified their Glocks with silencers.” Maybe they don’t want to disturb the fish while taking down an angler.

While freedom is hard to attain, it’s easy to lose. Talk to those who used to live in free societies, but now are ruled by dictators of one party. The buildup of weapons, the proliferation of cameras, the increasing fear among some that our government is no longer on “our side” reminds me of the lyric from a song by The Police: “Every move you make, every breath you take I’ll be watching you.”
