Who is Landon Buford?

Landon Buford’s journey to success has been a long and winding road, but he never let the challenges he faced get in the way of his passion for sports journalism. From his early days as an avid reader and talented athlete to his current role as the founder of LandonBuford.com and Buford Publications LLC, he has always been dedicated to his craft.

Buford’s love for sports and writing was evident from an early age. As a young boy, he would spend hours reading books and magazines, immersing himself in the world of sports. He was also a talented athlete, competing in track and field throughout his youth. When he had the chance to intern for USA Track and Field athlete Norris Frederick, he knew that it was the perfect opportunity to combine his passions for sports and writing.

During his internship, Buford discovered his love for sports journalism. He was able to learn from some of the best in the industry and gain valuable experience that would help him in his future endeavors. After his internship, he began writing for various publications, including Heavy.com, Forbes, Vayner Media, and SI. He also had his work mentioned in publications such as Huffington Post, People Mag, Yahoo Sports, MSN, Entertainment Tonight, Billboard, Inside Edition, and The Ringer to name a few. He used these opportunities to build his network and hone his craft, always looking for ways to improve.

In 2017-18, Buford decided to take the leap and create his own platform. He launched LandonBuford.com, a site dedicated to interviews with notable figures in sports and entertainment. The site quickly gained traction, and Buford found himself interviewing some of the biggest names in the industry. He also used his platform to provide a voice for underrepresented communities in sports and entertainment, shining a light on their stories and struggles.

But as with any entrepreneurial venture, Buford faced his fair share of challenges. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and the world of sports and entertainment ground to a halt. Many publications were forced to close their doors, and Buford’s website was no exception. But instead of giving up, Buford saw this as an opportunity to pivot and rebrand.

He spent months retooling his website, revamping its design and refocusing its content. He also used this time to build his network and reach out to new contacts. Through hard work and perseverance, he was able to relaunch LandonBuford.com in early 2021. The re-establishing of LandonBuford.com was not easy, but he worked tirelessly to make it happen. The ultimate motivator for Buford was when he realized that if his dream would continue to prosper, he would need to show the world that he practices what he preaches.

But Buford’s journey didn’t stop there. He also founded Buford Publications LLC, a company dedicated to helping brands and individuals with marketing and media coverage. He saw a need in the market for a more personalized approach, and he was determined to fill that gap. And as always, he approached this challenge with his trademark perseverance and dedication.

One of Buford’s current projects is an opportunity for recent college graduates to avoid the internship pipeline. He recognizes that many graduates struggle to find meaningful work in their chosen fields, and he wants to provide them with an alternative. He believes that everyone deserves a chance to build their resume and begin working towards their career goals, and he is determined to make that happen.

Through it all, Buford remains committed to his passion for sports journalism. He has interviewed countless public figures, but he still gets excited at the prospect of a new interview. He sees each conversation as an opportunity to learn and grow, and he is always looking for ways to improve his craft. He has interviewed notable figures such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Daymond John, Mark Cuban, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and Kiefer Sutherland. However, the one that stands out for Buford is the interview with Shira Lazar. The Founder of What’s Trending and entrepreneur was willing to spend quite a bit of time with her fellow journalist and held the most linear views on career paths. Buford’s passion for bringing back the Seattle Sonics to his hometown is evident in the interviews he holds dearest to his heart. Among them are Gary Payton, Kevin Durant, Jason Terry, Jamal Crawford, Isaiah Thomas, Walter Jones, Sue Bird, Brenna Stewart, Sheryl Swoopes, Doug Christie, Kenny Easley, Michael Bennett, and Zach LaVine. For Buford, it’s not just about their connection to his hometown of Seattle, but also their shared interest in reviving the city’s beloved basketball franchise.

Buford sees it as his duty to keep the conversation alive about the Sonics and to highlight the importance of bringing them back to Seattle. He believes that his platform as an NBA reporter gives him the opportunity to raise awareness about the issue and to push for action. His interviews with players who have strong ties to the Sonics, either as former players or fans, help to keep the conversation going and to keep the Sonics in the public eye.

For Sonics fans, the relocation of the Sonics in 2009 by Clay Bennett was a devastating blow to Seattle’s basketball community, and he is determined to see them return. Through his interviews and advocacy, Buford is playing an active role in the movement to bring the Sonics back to Seattle, and his passion for the cause is clear in the interviews he holds closest to his heart.

Landon has been more than willing to learn as his journey continues to grow. He remains motivated in his own goals by accepting that obtaining “No” is part of the job and all you can do is grow from it. The re-establishing of LandonBuford.com was not easy, but he worked tirelessly to make it happen. The ultimate motivator for Buford was when he realized that if his dream would continue to prosper, he would need to show the world that he practices what he preaches.
