We reported earlier today on how the ACLU slapped back at President Joe Biden’s denial yesterday of reports that the White House was considering $450,000/person payments for illegal immigrants who had allegedly been separated from their families during the Trump administration and who had filed lawsuits over the matter
In response to a Wall Street Journal piece that claimed the “U.S. Departments of Justice, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services are considering payments that could amount to close to $1 million a family,” Biden told Fox News reporter Peter Doocy – who asked him about it during the G20 Summit Wednesday – that, “If you guys keep sending that garbage out, yeah. But it’s not true,” then replying “yeah” to Doocy’s follow-up on if he was claiming it was a “garbage report.”
As we noted, the ACLU statement indicated that there were indeed talks in the Biden administration, saying that even if Biden was unaware of the talks that he still should not “follow through” on “abandoning a core campaign promise to do justice for the thousands of separated families.”
In an update to this story, White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, subbing for Jen Psaki who is recovering from COVID, completely undercut Biden’s comments when asked about them today (by Doocy) during the daily press briefing:
.@KJP46 cleans up Biden’s comments yesterday re: the potential $450,000 settlements for immigrants affected by the family separation policies of the Trump admin. Karine says Biden is “perfectly comfortable” w settlements if it comes to that (Biden had said it’s not gonna happen)

Later, Biden was asked if he had been briefed on settlement issues by DOJ and if so, whether that was appropriate. @POTUSTo weigh in again on an pending DOJ matter @KJP46 says “he was asked a question and he answered it. There’s nothing much more to add to that.”

Jean-Pierre then claimed that what Biden was describing was “garbage” was the $450,000 amount. Elle then claimed that the DOJ could speak on the subject more than she could.

This … is just embarrassing. Even New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman (Democrat apologist journalist) finds it embarrassing. are reactingIncredulously, the sudden flip-flop.
Whatever your opinion about illegal immigrant workers who came into the country illegally, it doesn’t matter how you interpret this. This is bad for Biden. Either he legit didn’t know about the payment discussions – not good, did know and forget about them – not good, or did know and lied about them when asked yesterday – also not good.
All of these scenarios do not look very good. They also lend credence speculation that the Biden White House has fallen apart due to President Biden who is almost as likely to get caught in gaffes and flubs than he is snoozing at public functions.
To reiterate a point I’ve made before, Joe Biden is a caricature of a president, a puppet of the radical left and senior administration officials who have to routinely pull his strings and play clean-up when he messes things up, which must be an exhausting job since it’s a near-hourly occurrence with this president.
Unfortunately, it’s the American people who are bearing the brunt of the harsh consequences for Biden’s gross ineptitude.
There is always a silver lining to all this. At least, we’re not being subject to crude tweets.
