Multiple reports claim that Vladimir Putin ordered General Roman Gavrilov to be arrested and held in detention. He is the deputy director for RosgvardiyaThe National Guard of Russia. It is important to not confuse this National Guard with the Russian National Guard. Rosgvardia includes internal security forces such as police, paratroops, special forces and other units. It reports directly to Vladimir Putin. Their responsibility is to ensure stability in the country.
The National Guard was created by a Presidential Decree in 2016. Rosgvardiya. It did not involve the creation of whole new organisations or recruitment of troops. Rather, it was a restructuring of internal security forces to create a new agency that reports directly to Putin. Most significant was the 140,000 Internal Troops transfer from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.Ministerstvo Vnutrennikh Del: MVD), the foundation of the new organisation. As a bonus, Gavrilov was previously in Putin’s personal security service.
Three independent sources report that the deputy chief of Russia’s Rosgvardia (a unit of RU’s interior army which has had tremendous losses in Ukraine), Gen. Roman Gavrilov has been detained by FSB. Gavrilov had also previously worked in FSO, Putin’s security service.

Why did this happen? There are probably no quasi-official explanations.
One source said he was fired over alleged leaks of military intel which ‘led to loss of life’, while two others said he was cuffed for ‘wasteful squandering of fuel.’
According to Russian doctrine, RosgvardiyaTo subdue the civilian population and to suppress all resistance, the troop is positioned behind them. According to several reports RosgvardiyaThey were the most prominent elements of the invasion force, likely due to Russian intelligence predicting that the Ukrainian armed forces will collapse and people would accept them. As a result, Putin’s private army suffered heavy losses when facing armed opposition rather than protesting grandmothers. Gavrilov may have been arrested because he was accused of mismanagement Rosgvardiyaoperations without causing excessive losses.
Regardless of the reason, a favorite of one of Putin’s inner circle has been arrested. This alone is an indication of chaos within the Kremlin.
