Once is a coincidence, twice is a trend, and we are firmly seeing the latter with this latest news about Joe Biden’s public appearances.
Biden visited Georgia in January to deliver a speech on voting rights. Although it was a divisive and disgusting spectacle, full of falsities, that is to be expected. What wasn’t expected was for Stacey Abrams, who is running for governor again in the Peach State, to dodge the president by claiming a scheduling mix-up.
However, no one believed that excuse. There was nothing more important on Abrams’ schedule than to appear with the President of America. None of it made sense, and the obvious indication was that Abrams didn’t want to be seen in public with Biden due to his crashing approval ratings. Unfortunately for her, Abrams is still getting trounced (for now, at least) by Brian Kemp, so the vanishing act didn’t pay dividends.
But while some assumed that was an isolated incident, it’s not so isolated anymore. The president will be appearing Friday night with top Democrats from Pennsylvania. Democrats Josh Shapiro, who is running for governor, and John Fetterman, who is running for Senate, have both cited “scheduling conflicts” as a reason to not be seen with the president.

Lt. Gov. John Fetterman and Josh Shapiro will both be missing due to scheduling conflicts according to their representatives. Conor Lamb of Pittsburgh will be attending as a top senatorial candidate. The president invited all three of them to join him in taking a picture.
The president will be in town and Fetterman chose to go to a meeting of the committee. Shapiro didn’t even give a reason for his lack of attendance. We all know that the excuses given by Shapiro are bogus. They know Biden will be a burden on their electoral necks so they aren’t showing up.
Although I was unable to find the most recent approval ratings for Biden in Pennsylvania at this time, it was only 45 percent in October last year. There’s every reason to believe those numbers are far worse now, given his national collapse.
It’s a very bad look for the president’s own party members to be avoiding him like this, and it’s evidence of just how far his star has fallen. An year ago, Biden’s potential for becoming so toxic would have been laughed off by most. This quickly. We are here, and there is no end in sight. For his part, the president is insisting that he’s going to campaign for the midterms anyway. It sounds like something Republicans would love to have, as they are eager to nationalize many races at the state level. Biden is an egomaniac, though, and like Obama in 2010, he doesn’t have the capacity to read the tea leaves and take a step back.
