In 2020, only 51.3 million children lived with two parents in their home, and over 18 million children do not have a father in that home. Fla. Governor. Ron DeSantis attempted to resolve this issue by signing HB7065 on Monday.
This legislation will create a fund of $70 million that can be used to reverse certain effects. The money will be channeled through the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and will help fund programs that aim to help fathers and families in the sunshine State.
Former Indianapolis Colts head coach and current Sunday Night Football analyst Tony Dungy voiced his support for the legislation, and was even by DeSantis’ side during a media session when the governor announced the impact he hopes the legislation will have.

“This is going to be tremendous and such a good help to fathers in Florida,” Dungy a Tampa native, said. This bill is very important. This bill is so important. I thank everyone who worked on it. This will allow All Pro Dad groups and other people to make a difference for fathers in Florida.
Dungy was shamed by the liberal Twitterverse, led by Keith Olbermann. Many tried to highlight the fact that because Dungy said at one point that he would not want an openly gay player on a team he coached and then supported this legislation that his character is all of a sudden in question.
Spoiler alert: He worked with me. Tony Dungy has a reputation that is not impeccable. He made Michael Sam remarks which disqualified him from being regarded as an example for loving fatherhood. https://t.co/WCjgSOPWn0

That’s fraud! @TonyDungyDungy is cackling and standing there. This also makes him a fascist prop. You, @NBCSports @SNFonNBC? https://t.co/LaiPQ27rOU

For those insisting Dungy never said this, here it is from 2014: https://t.co/VwN4fKegCG

Tony Dungy was once someone I felt bad about.
I don’t anymore. https://t.co/ojqIyomahW

It’s just another in a series of dumb people with no other purpose than to bring down others.
Dungy did not say that he disliked homosexual people. However, he would never want to go through the hassle of having a player from a team with gay members (Carl Nassib? anyone?) His stance on personnel is completely absurd, as it seems to be an attempt to make a connection between his abilities to father his children.
Dungy should never give any criticism any second thought if he sees this.
