Tom Brady, even though he is now in his 40s hasn’t lost his charm.
Tony Romo still shows how skilled he is in calling plays, even before they occur. This Friday was the last QB (and current color analyst). Was on theCBS MorningPlease showRomo shared a conversation with Jim Nantz, his broadcast partner. They were assessing the Games for the Conference Championships. Romo then proposed a theory.
“The Tom Brady one’s really interesting. I don’t know anything, no inside information. I don’t talk to Tom at all about this. I think when he wins it, I think he’s opposite of what some people think. I think that’s when he goes away, when he loses.”
Although Romo did not employ a telestrator to assist him, it seems that he saw another potential play. The Boston area is hearing that Tom Brady plans to announce soon that his professional football career is over.
Citing sources from Brady’s close associates, CBS 4-Boston announces that we can expect word from the future Hall of Fame thrower he is stepping down.
According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, several members of Brady’s “inner circle” believe “that the all-time great is preparing to retire from the game.” The report said “a formal announcement expected shortly.”
Rumours suggest that Brady doesn’t want his announcement to impact Super Bowl week which is in three weeks. Waiting until after the Big Game would mean it’s a full month from now, and he wants to allow for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization to have the full time to make decisions and arrange for things in a post-Brady world.
There is another possibility that Brady may be interested in moving into broadcasting and making an announcement right now could allow him to make his debut during the Super Bowl. There is no better time for the media to highlight the fact that they are the most prominent player in the sport than the largest hype-fest.
Another indicator that had been forwarded was that Ben Rawitz — Brady’s longtime assistant dating back to his tenure in New England -– is reportedly putting out feelers to others that his services are available.
Tony Romo’s theory is a sound one because if it was a case of Tom quitting while he was on top, last year would have been the time of his departure. For the entirety of his career it was believed that Brady had been in an ideal system, paired with Bill Bilichick as a coach, and that this resulted in the rare entity that controlled the NFL. Many thought that eliminating any aspect of the system would cause diminished results.
Tom’s arrival in Tampa dispelled all of that. The way that he changed the Buccaneers was a perfect example of his impact. After his arrival, they had record-breaking season ticket sales and the roster was modified to suit his needs. They went on to win the Super Bowl. Brady is a career-best player, despite being over 40. His performance has demonstrated that Brady is what makes the difference.
We wait. It will mark the end of a significant chapter for the NFL’s history if it comes to fruition. The debate over which players are the best will never end. Brady will always be part of these discussions. Anyone campaigning for him will have nearly insurmountable statistics to support their claims. One way to counter this would be to bring up differences from previous periods and speculate if he had made the same impact.
The only quarterback with more than 600 touchdowns was awarded the MVP award, winning seven Super Bowls and three Super Bowls. You can find a complete list of additional records here means that in these debates, the only logical arguments to make against the man will have to begin with, “Yes, it is possible.…”
