A funny thing I find is how people suddenly learn Christianity from those on the left.
Becca, my coworker highlighted the tweet that Thomas Massie posted on Twitter. The photo featured every member of his family holding some type of firearm in front a Christmas tree. It’s a photo that says many things from “Merry Christmas” to “Come and Take It.”
Christmas wishes to all 🎄

In her article, Becca made it clear that she wasn’t going to burden the reader with the hateful responses due to their predictability and silliness, but it’s definitely something that I’m going to do because I feel that at least one of their collective idiotic responses needs to be called out. I won’t list them all, because there are a lot, but many of the responses can be summed up by this one tweet by former White House ethics lawyer for George W. Bush, Richard Painter.
“What a horrible way to celebrate the birth of Jesus,” he tweeted.
This is an awful way to celebrate Jesus’ birth. https://t.co/bvgtYDQUpu

One idea is that Christ wouldn’t be shocked to see a family display weapons on His birthday. Christ is all about kindness, love and being kind. While he was certainly right, leftists ignore all the other aspects of Christ.
Jesus didn’t oppose weapons. He was actually for weapons, but he made it clear that how they were used mattered to him.
Let’s look at an oft-overlooked, but very much in the open verse from Luke 22:35-38. It’s here that Christ and his disciples are preparing to go to the Garden of Gethsemane where he would be arrested and eventually crucified. Jesus is doling out instructions about how to prepare for what’s to come. It’s here that he instructs them to buy a sword, and sell their cloak if they have to in order to obtain one:
They said, “When I sent you sans purse, shoes, and scrip,” Then they replied: Nothing.
He said unto them: But now, whoever has a purse should take it. And the same for his scrip.
This is what I tell you.
Then they said: Lord, behold, there are two swords. He said to them: It’s enough.
Christ knew he was at the final chapter, but he knew his disciples weren’t. They had a faith to build and they were going to go forth from the moment of Christ’s crucifixion to create the world’s most important religion. Christ even points this out in Luke 10:1 where he noted that while the last journey they were on was easy, going forward they won’t have the support of most people.
For defensive purposes, the sword was useful. What it wasn’t for was offensive, as when a disciple later draws his sword to cut off the ear of a servant of one of those sent to capture Jesus, and Christ rebukes him for his unnecessary violence, especially against an innocent.
So Christ wasn’t against having weapons at all, but He was very particular about how they should be utilized. It is also clear in the Bible that violence shouldn’t be used anywhere. Exodus 22.2-23 demonstrates that violence can be used in self-defense, but not for revenge, because vengeance belongs to His word.
“If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed. “When the sun has rose on him, there shall be guilt for his bloodshed,” reads Exodus 22:2-3.
Again, the leftists are wrong. Christ would find no fault in the ownership of weapons, and showing them off isn’t exactly against the rules either, especially in a somewhat funny Christmas photo. The Massie family isn’t utilizing their weapons for offensive reasons, but you can be sure that if you’re looking to break into the Massie home, it’s highly unlikely the sun will rise on you.
We wish you a Merry Christmas.
