Thomas Massie Exposes the DOJ’s Intent Behind the Seizure of Scott Perry’s Phone – Opinion

Rep. Thomas Massie (R.KY), has always stood up for Constitutional freedoms and been fiercely critical of government overreach, expansion and entrenchment. So, when Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) had his phone confiscated by the FBI a day after that same FBI executed an unprecedented raid on former President Donald Trump’s home at Mar-a-Lago, Massie tweeted some hard truths.

Once you realize this is a hot war between the embedded elements of big government and conservatives who threaten their existence, you can understand the tactical and psychological significance of the FBI notoriously seizing the House Freedom Caucus chairman’s cell phone.

Massie accurately described this as a “hot war” and that the flame volleys fly over everyone’s heads. After they ignored the aftermath of 2020 Summer of Love as well as the rising crime rate in major cities, the Biden administration turned on the Department of Justice. They chose to alter the definition for domestic terrorist in order to attack people not near the Capitol.

Also note that Massie did not say, “Democrats and Republicans,” he said, “big government and conservatives.” The full fire of the FBI and DOJ is being aimed at the American people–doesn’t matter what political affiliation or non-affiliation you choose. Californian independent professionals were exposed to these tactics by AB5, where a power-mad legislature tried to ban how we work. They then created the corrupt Employment Development Department in an attempt to punish anyone who broke the law. A large number of the 1099 non-partisan independent professionals included many progressive Democrats. This did nothing to protect them—with California’s government-on-steroids, party affiliation, or lack thereof, meant nothing.

Massie is referring to the flaming skirmish. Anybody who opposes draconian government policies and violations of civil liberties will be targeted by the government. Perry, who is the face and staunch Trump ally of Freedom Caucus, is precisely the kind of person that the DOJ wants to take down. Their tactic is shock and awe, along with intimidation. If they are able to go after sitting members of Congress, then what’s the harm in them going after you? As we have seen, they are attempting to sabotage the Fourth Amendment. They also use fear tactics and chilling speech to get at the First Amendment.

Massie’s tweet thread ended with an insight into the possible outcome of this phone seizure.

I’m not in the Freedom Caucus, but I’d say: every meeting of that group, all of the internal dynamics, every source of information, every conversation with GOP leadership, all major donors, recruitment efforts, unofficial whistle blowers can all be gleaned from that one phone.

This means that the DOJ seeks more firewood for its hot war. Getting access to Perry’s phone is an easy way to find more conservatives and freedom-adjacent individuals to target in order to continue the witch hunt. Now that the FBI has the phone, all that’s required is charting associations and connecting dots. It would take months, if not years, for the FBI to get this information legally and legitimately, so they game the system by using the weight of federal force, the government’s own goon squad. Then, when the information found on the phone is somehow leaked, they simply say, “Oops,” and plow forward in their campaign.

One of the most brilliant insights from a conservative general in this war.
