THIS AGAIN?! CNN’s Lemon Says Those Against Him Are With Nazis, U.S. Traitors

CNN’s Don Lemon, a CNN host, reflected Wednesday night on his claims from nearly one year ago about Trump supporters. It was his rewardOur Chris Cuomo Memorial Award to Worst Quote Of The Year.

Lemon insisted that those opposing him be President Biden and all Democrats during his show. aren’t like the KKK, Nazis, segregationists like Bull Connor and George Wallace, and treasonists like the Confederacy, but instead “on the” same “side” as those groups.

One of CNN’s many rhetorical arsonists, Lemon used this asinine slight of hand in denouncing Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s speech denouncing President Biden’s scorched earth remarksTuesday afternoon, he announced his plan to seize power over the elections.

Couching those opposing Biden in supporting Donald Trump’s “big lie of bogus voter fraud” “the insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol, Lemon played a portion of McConnell’s speech before complaining “Republicans” and “conservative media”These are “beyond being hyperbolic”Act now “full of indignation” in misleading audiences.

Lemon framed how McConnell was “lying about what the President said” by arguing Biden never “demonize[d] Americans who disagree with him”Georgia but rather “la[id] out a rhetorical choice.”

“A rhetorical choice?” What in the world is that? Lemon, who contorts words, would receive at least a medal if it were an Olympic sport.

Lemon continued:

He said that it wasn’t that Bull Connor is your friend, but that George Wallace is your friend. You are on the side and that is a significant difference. It’s not a matter of fact. Do you side with those — side with those who fought for our most sacred right as Americans, the right to vote, or not that you are those people, do you side with those who fought against it?

Lemon continued to sabotage the web after a Biden video, claiming that those who support him are also involved. “voting rights protection” aren’t literally John Lewis or Martin Luther King, but on their “side.”

He then reiterated his previous statements. insistent during his January 13, 2021 show and how Trump supporters aren’t Nazis, but they’re in bed with them. And more to the present, he also claimed Biden’s agenda has majority support and thus McConnell’s support for the U.S. Senate’s current rules is some sort of tyranny of the minority (click “expand”):

As I have said before, if you were a supporter of this President, then you voted for the President — or the former President, Trump, then you voted for the President who what? Bigots were supported. So, the Klan supported. Proud Boys supported and the alt-right supported. Didn’t mean that you were a member of that, but those who — that’s who supported the former President.

Joe Biden absolutely has the right answer if you do not believe in voting rights legislation. This is the side you should be on. People who have historically voted against voting rights protections for the majority and then he also said here untrammeled control over the country by Democrats or for one party he said, but what he’s actually saying is that the majority — right — Democrats are in the majority now, and the majority of the country wants voting rights protection that that’s not right because the minority wants something else. He is advocating minority rule. Mitch McConnell. We can see that you are not a good person.

He eventually wrapped up by speculating on why reauthorizations of the 1965 Voting Rights Act no longer receive Republican support: “What is so different now? T-ru-u-m–p, f–e-a–r, the big L-i-e? Why is it so different? The voting rights protections are the same. We haven’t grown all of a sudden, a different group of ethnicities.”

Gag.

DON LEMON : The President is still lying about bogus voter fraud. President Joe Biden has been trying to get legislation passed to ensure the right of the vote. He is now expressing anger at Mitch McConnell’s threat that, if Democrats weaken the filibuster, he would personally make sure the Senate grinds to a halt.

SENATOR MICHELLE MITCH (R-KY),: Yesterday, he said that you were George Wallace if a disagreement with him. George Wallace. Bull Connor can’t force you to pass his laws. Jefferson Davis is Jefferson Davis if you are against giving Democrats untrammeled single-party control. This President stated twelve months ago that disagreement should not cause disunion. Ah, but yesterday, he invoked the bloody disunion of the Civil War — the Civil War — to demonize Americans who disagree with him. He compared — listen to this — a bipartisan majority of senators to literal traitors. This is so profoundly and profoundly unpresidential. Joe Biden has been a friend, a person I have always liked and respected for many years. The man standing at the podium was not me yesterday.

LEMON: Okay. So that was — you know, I find the Republicans do that a lot and conservative media do that a lot, what Mitch McConnell just did. He knows what he did, and he knows that he is — it’s beyond being hyperbolic, he’s actually just lying about what the President said cause that’s not exactly what he said, right? This is what Mitch McConnell stated. Biden didn’t say that. Biden did not demonize Americans who don’t agree with him. Biden made an argument. His point was that Bull Connor is not you, but George Wallace. You’re not on the side. There’s a huge difference. It’s not a matter of fact. Do you side with those — side with those who fought for our most sacred right as Americans, the right to vote, or not that you are those people, do you side with those who fought against it?

JOE BIDDEN [on 01/11/22]: How do you wish to be remembered by elected officials in America? You have a choice. Would you rather be Dr. King, or George Wallace? Would you like to support John Lewis and Bull Connor? Are you ready to stand with Jefferson Davis or Abraham Lincoln? Now is the time to make a decision, and defend our democracy. To defend our democracy.

LEMON: So you can see that there is a difference. So, if you are — if you’re on the side of — so if you want voting rights protection, that would be like saying you are Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. You are John Lewis, right? That’s the opposite of — so he’s saying, whose side are you on? As I have said before, if you were a supporter of this President, then you voted for the President — or the former President, Trump, then you voted for the President who what? Bigots were supported. So, the Klan supported. Proud Boys supported and the alt-right supported. Didn’t mean that you were a member of that, but those who — that’s who supported the former President. Joe Biden absolutely has it right if you do not believe in voting rights legislation. We see you. You know better. Here’s the President today responding to McConnell’s criticism saying, “I like Mitch McConnell. He’s a friend,” which may be the most Joe Biden thing that he could say, but just think about how much things have changed since the last time voting rights were before the Senate.

So, this is the facts part. The Senate voted to reauthorize Voting Rights Act in 2016 with a vote of 98 to 0. Nineteen — in 2006, the Senate voted 98 to zero to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act, not so long ago. All senators voted for it, Mitch McConnell to Richard Shelby, Susan Collins and James Inhofe. It is true, I repeat it, all senators voted in favor of the voting rights protection. This was the last time the Voting Rights Bill was reauthorized in 2006. Mitch McConnell, Richard Shelby, Susan Collins, James Inhofe, John Thune, John Cornyn, Lindsey Graham, Chuck Schumer — excuse me, Chuck Grassley, Richard Burr, and Lisa Murkowski. Is it so different? The big li-e, T-ru-u-ma-p and f-ea-r are the things that have changed. Why is it so different? The voting rights protections are the same. Our population hasn’t changed, nor have the ethnicities. They are all members of Congress who voted to expand voting rights back then, and they’re in the Senate today. That is Roy Blunt, John Bozeman, Shelby Moore, Caputo — Capito, excuse me, Jerry Moran, Roger Vic — Wicker, and Marsha Blackburn. Each of these Republicans supported voting rights over 15 years ago. What are their positions now? What’s different? Ask ‘em. They are now in charge. Ask them what’s different. I’ll hold.
