During their second episode following their spring break, the cackling coven of ABC’s The ViewIt was decided that I would rant about Elon Musk’s acquisition of Twitter by a billionaire and his promises to encourage free speech. But according to infinite wisdom co-host Sunny Hostin, Musk was only interested in protecting the free speech rights of “straight white men” and that he was going to “unleash the trolls” to abuse women on the platform.
“So, the richest person in the world, Elon Musk, a Twitter trolling kingpin, is not exempt from bans. since he just made a deal to buy the company for $44 billion,” chided co-host Joy Behar as she introduced the discussion topic.
After playing a soundbite of Musk talking about Twitter as the “de facto town square,” Behar scoffed as she couldn’t figure out why conservatives would be excited about free speech and suggested the left liked it too:
This is why a lot people from the right celebrate it as a win for free speech. However, the left doesn’t like free speech as much as we do. Why are conservatives so excited about Musk being the next president?
Hostin spoke first and lashed out against the platform which allows people to post clips of her nonsensesCall her. “I think Twitter can be a really horrible place, and I think people are excited because he is sort of going to unleash the trolls,” She snorted. “I think he’s saying you get to say whatever you want. “I’m going take down the safety nets. And for me, that is something that is a bit scary.”
After that, she began ranting about Musk’s plan to make women even more abused once he takes full control.
It’s scary for many women, I believe. There have been surveys and 38% of the women surveyed around the globe have admitted to having been the victims of abuse via Twitter. 85% of women claim to have witnessed abuse.
What’s most interesting about Twitter? Only 22 percent of adult users worldwide use it. This is based on a Pew survey from 2019.
Further, she screamed at her by saying “Twitter is not the real world” because Twitter “is predominantly straight white men.” And it’s with that race-baiting approach that Hostin claimed Musk was only out to protect the “free speech of straight white men.”
“And so let them have it. They can just get on with it. I enjoy the block button on Twitter,” she proclaimed.
Hostin went on to predict that Twitter will fail under Musk’s leadership and that “there will be other social media platforms that take over where real people are talking and there will be real freedom of speech.”
And as she was wrapping up her remarks, Hostin whined about “billionaires taking over our modes of communication” such as “Jeff Bezos taking over The Washington Post.” But her other example was “Mark Zuckerberg taking over Facebook.”
Um, Sunny. Zuckerberg was a co-founder of Facebook and it’s why he’s a billionaire.

Twitter does not exist in the real world. It is actually dominated by straight white men on Twitter. So, when Elon Musk says, ‘wow, this is about free speech,’ it seems to me that it’s about free speech of straight white men. Let them enjoy it. Let’s let them have it. The block button in Twitter is something I love.
It has had a huge influence on our lives because celebrities and politicians use it. It could be that other social media platforms take control of the places where people talk and that freedom will reign.
Because billionaires are taking control of our communication channels. You’ve got Jeff Bezos taking over The Washington Post, you’ve got Mark Zuckerberg taking over Facebook and Instagram. Elon Musk has now taken over Twitter. It’s not my intention to overthrow free speech, but billionaires do.
