The View Decries GOP Listening to Constituents, Abbott Sitting at Presser

The crazy train known as ABC’s The ViewThe cast was wildly unhinged as they took wild swings at Republicans and blaming them for Uvalde’s school shooting. Joy Behar, co-host of the show, described it as an issue that Republicans had been listening to but were not able to solve. Sara Haines (co-host) was angry with Texas Governor Greg Abbott(R), because he sat in a wheelchair at a conference.

Claiming she’s been doing some “reading,” Behar built off their discussion where they suggested the Republican Party is the puppet of the National Rifle Association to suggest the real dark interest that needed to be thwarted was: the average people.

“The money is, of course, one of the things, but it’s also They will lose the support of their base constituencies. That is really the problem, and that is an intractable problem,” she decried. “They will never, ever do something as long as that base is controlling the situation.” Adding: “Those Republicans are always going to be at the mercy of their constituents.”

Listening to the voters back home about what their interests are is a “problem” for Behar, who’s an ardent liberal. So, it makes sense then that her solution was to “vote for the Democrats,” because following her logic would mean that the left doesn’t care what the people think. “It’s important to understand that. There is no way out of this other than that,” she pressed.

Near the top of the show, while they were praising Democratic Texas gubernatorial candidate Robert Francis O’Rourke for turning a press conference to update the public on the investigation into an event for himself, Haines voiced her apparent anger at a man in a wheelchair sitting.

And I would never show my face if I were that governor – Governor Abbott after what happened,” she huffed, blaming Abbott for the spectacle O’Rourke caused. “Many people can’t even peel themselves off the floor in grief in those communities and yet he’s sitting there holding a – some kind of press conference.”

Praising O’Rourke’s self-centered stunt, Haines argued that “politics is theater” generally and thus O’Rourke’s was masterful because “he went there and you noticed even the optics. He calmly kept talking.”

Sunny Hostin, Sunny’s co-host, stumbled off the stage and began yelling about all of those who were on it. “seemed angrier at Beto O’Rourke than they were at the massacre of 19 children and 2 fourth grade teachers!” “They were yelling at him! I would like to see some of that energy around gun safety,” she bitterly demanded.

After blaming Abbott directly for the shooting, Hostin went on to complain that the real “political theater” was committed by Abbott and the officials who were gathered to give the update on the investigation. “You’ve got Governor Abbott. All of these sheriffs are yours. The mayor is there. That’s what was political theater,” she whined.

SARA HAINES: Politics is theater, and guns happen to be a big issue for Beto O’Rourke, and he went there and you noticed even the optics. He continued to talk calmly. They called him “a” because he couldn’t speak certain words.

JOY BEHAR: A SOB. A SOB.

HAINES, And things got very ugly. Absolutely this matters because what they were doing – And I would never show my face if I were that governor – Governor Abbott after what happened. Many people can’t even peel themselves off the floor in grief in those communities and yet he’s sitting there holding a – some kind of press conference.

SUNNY HOSTIN: They seemed angrier at Beto O’Rourke than they were at the massacre of 19 children and 2 fourth grade teachers! They were screaming at him. That energy would have to be focused on gun safety. It was shocking to me that people were angry about what he said, even though he was saying the right thing.

HOSTIN : Did you witness the political theater during this press conference? Governor Abbott is there. All of these sheriffs are yours. The mayor has been appointed. That’s what was political theater.

BEHAR: See, the thing about it – and I’ve been reading about this today. Are the Republicans in Congress not moving at all on this? Why? It’s because they fear losing power.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG – And the money.

HOSTIN: The money.

BEHAR: While the money is a very important factor, it will also be their base members who won’t vote for them. It is this problem that really is the issue, and it is very difficult to solve. As long as the base controls the situation, they will not do anything.

That’s why I suggested yesterday that you should not vote in Republicans for the general election that is coming up. These Republicans will always be dependent on their constituents. In this instance, voting for Democrats will result in you breaking that. That is crucial. You can’t get around this.
