Ahead of Monday’s start to the Supreme Court nomination hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, Friday’s COVID-stricken edition of ABC’s The ViewThe show featured three hosts who resisted the temptation to make Jackson look soft on child porn-peddlers and sex offenders. Instead, they came to her defense by arguing that she’ll “very literally” “outshine each and every one” of the conservative justices nominated by former President Trump.
“What’s crazy is the Republicans, like Josh Hawley [R-MO]She is being impeded from her way to the bench by claiming she has sex offenders on too easy. and he takes issue with the fact she defended Guantanamo detainees, which is the law,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg scoffed.
Goldberg, who recently claimed the Holocaust “wasn’t about race,” told Hawley to pick up a book and get educated about public defenders. “It is literally the law! We must give you a lawyer if you are held in detention to ensure you don’t get railroaded. This is the law. All you got to do is look it up,” she sneered.
“Let me remind people who Josh Hawley is,” so-called conservative co-host Ana Navarro declared while raising her fist into the air. “Josh Hawley is the guy who was, you know, promoting the big lie, who was — is one of the promoters of the insurrection that happened on January 6.” Navarro then made her first of two swipes at Justice Brett Kavanaugh.
“Let me remind you though, you’re scrutinizing her about legal issues. You’re not scrutinizing her about sexual harassment or assault,” she spat; later adding: “She needs to keep her cool and answer calmly and answer with substance because she — because of who she is, is not going to get away with the crying meltdown that Kavanaugh did.”
As a reminder, all sexual misconduct accusations against Kavanaugh were completely fabricates. There’s no evidence any of them occurred and some of the people named as supposed witnesses say the events never happened. The now-Justice is right to be upset at the media and left trying to ruin him with LIES.
Eboni Williams, Jackson’s guest host suggested that Jackson was only being scrutinized because her race was a factor. “But Whoopi, let’s not pretend we don’t know what this is about. You know what bus is always on time,” she rhetorically asked. “The one that indicts the determinations of the qualifications of black women in this country. And that bus is never late.”
“Just based on the people, the last three people they put in. You know, this is a woman who can — who can outshine each and every one of those people,”Goldberg said as she tried to draw their anger at conservative justices. “Her abilities are outstanding. She’s extraordinary, I think. So, you put in Amy Coney Barrett, you put in the other one, you know, and you’re questioning her?”
Williams agreed, suggesting Jackson would “very literally” outshine them.
After suggesting that Justice Amy Coney Barrett wasn’t an intellectual equal and didn’t have nearly the qualifications of Jackson, Goldberg predicted that the Republican lawmakers would be made to look like fools as Jackson flipped through her notes:
What I want them to remember, I think, is that they will all recall their laws whenever they ask her, because she’ll be just like these with them. [Flipping through cards] ‘Oh, no. Blah blah blah blah. Oh, yeah. Blah blah blah blah blah. This was not something you knew. It was all that you needed to know. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.’
In reality, Barrett didn’t bring any notes with her to her confirmation hearings. And there’s an iconic picture of her holding up an empty notepad.

WHOOPI Goldberg: It’s insane that Republicans like Josh Hawley have already tried to stop her from becoming a judge. They claim that she has allowed sex offenders to get away too easily in past cases. He also takes issue with the fact that she protected Guantanamo prisoners, which is against the law.
EBONI K. WILLIAMS – Literally.
GOLDBERG – It’s the law! We must give you a lawyer if you are held in detention to ensure you don’t get railroaded. This is the law. You just need to look it up. Ugh. Ugh. Doesn’t that make it the job?
WILLIAMS This justice, when confirmed, will become the first ever federal public defense to serve on the United States Supreme Court. Okay?
So, even though we love our Constitution, and the patriots tell us that you can’t, we are seeing that you don’t subscribe to the Sixth Amendment to the Constitution. This is due process. The Supreme Court affirmed that this applies as of 2008.
Ladies, I don’t like cherry-picking so if you do, it is not a good idea. When I was practicing as a defense lawyer both in private practice and as a defender, I would get all the time, ‘how can you defend those people, Eboni? We all know exactly what they did. What type of lawyer takes that kind of case?’
Let me tell you which kind. It is the kind that cares about this country. This is the kind of person who believes in liberty, justice, freedom for all. It believes you can be presumed innocent until proven guilty. This is not for everyone who has facts that are warm and fuzzy. Every person should be able to receive the promise that the system gives them of their right to defense and counsel.
This is an exciting moment for me.

ANA NAVARRO : I’ll remind you who Josh Hawley really is. [Raises fist in the air]Josh Hawley, the person who, you know, promoted the big lies, and who — was one the proponents of January’s insurrection. He doesn’t seem to have the moral right to talk about the constitution. After all, if you don’t believe in democracy and can’t support election results, then you don’t really have any moral standing.
(…)
NAVARRO : It’s so important and I hope that she displays her medal. So, let’s find out her intelligence, her judicial temperament and her character. Ask her questions, examine her. You are not examining her for legal problems. She’s not being scrutinized for sexual harassment and assault.
WILLIAMS: Ooo.
NAVARRO
GOLDBERG: It’s just based on who they are, and the three most recent people that they have put in. This woman can, and can surpass each of these people.
WILLIAMS – Very literally.
GOLDBERG – Her talents are extraordinary. She’s extraordinary, I think. You put Amy Coney Barrett in, then you add the second one. Now you are questioning her.
WILLIAMS: Whoopi! Let’s not pretend that we don’t understand what all this means. What bus always arrives on time? This bus is what indicts this nation’s qualifications for black women. It’s never late.
GOLDBERG: It’s never late.
WILLIAMS: It’s never late.
This is the reason I am sorry. She is already qualified to be an appellate judge by the United States Senate. I’m going to say it.
GOLDBERG : This is scary for them. And it’s like, if you say you want the brightest, the greatest that we have, she’s perfect representation of that.
NAVARRO – I will tell her what she should do.
GOLDBERG – What do you need her to do?
NAVARRO: Keep her calm and respond with substance. She isn’t going to let Kavanaugh cry wolf because of who and what she is.
GOLDBERG: Ah, no. That’s not possible. No. It’s not possible. You have to stand up for yourself and be strong. Let’s go! You can count on her being there for you.
