Meghan McCain has long since left the table. The ViewIn defending Andrew Cuomo’s disgraced New York governor, hosts went back to their former ways. After reports came out showing that the defiant Democrat is considering returning to politics after he was ousted out of office due to a sexual harassment scandal, (and an under covered nursing home scandal), his fans at ABC’s political talkshow rallied for his return.
Joy Behar, Joy’s co-host, opened the program optimistically. “Cuomo has always denied any allegations against him and he was never found guilty of a crime, to be fair. Can he make a comeback from the scandal? Because he kinda lost a lot of his mojo in the public eye, even if he was never convicted,” she posed.
Sunny Hostin was Sunny Hostin’s fellow co-host and defended the disgraced Democrat. She claimed he was still supported in New York. He was even accused of sexual harassment.
He lost quite a bit of New Yorker support, I’m not sure. If you poll New Yorkers, I believe that they felt that he was a competent governor. This is especially true when it comes to handling the pandemic, which the Trump administration wasn’t doing well at.
The other thing that he stated during the interview with Bloomberg was that Tisha James was being charged with political crimes. There is definitely something. If there is some smoke there will be fire.It was her intention to run for governor. She didn’t raise enough money, she didn’t reach the 5 million dollar threshold to get the support of the DNC and the Brooklyn DNC, or the Democratic party. It does seem a bit politically motivated, I think. It was a short-lived run for the governorship. It’s worth mentioning. If Trump is able to have many accusers, and still become president of the United States of America, then I believe all bets are off.
Alyssa Farah was a conservative-leaning guest host who used to work for Trump’s administration. She stopped Cuomo from running.
Sunny, listen, you are absolutely correct that men using power to fulfill their sexual needs is party-agnostic. Republicans have done this, Democrats have. Cuomo’s problem isn’t just the very credible allegations against him.[B]He also handled COVID in a terrible manner. 10,000 seniors died at a nursing home as he wrote a book he made a profit from. He was also using public resources for research and writing that book, which is a violation of ethics. If there’s one thing we learned about the Cuomos it’s these are ego maniacs…
Hostin and Behar bristled at Farah’s response but Ana Navarro also expressed skepticism over Cuomo returning to office.
The fellow CNN Republican said she was over the Cuomos, blaming Chris Cuomo as well for CNNers emotional breakdowns over former president Jeff Zucker’s ouster.
“Look this week, I’m particularly Cuomoed out,” she complained, giving a laundry list of Democrat activists who had to resign after Cuomo before hinting to the trauma at CNN over Zucker. “With this many millions of people can’t you find somebody that doesn’t have the level of luggage that this guy has?” she asked her co-hosts.
Behar was again present at the Cuomo pity party.
“They all have luggage! Tell me a politician practically–Besides Obama almost every politician has some kind of luggage!” she cried. Hostin supported her, deflecting the blame. “The former president had over two dozen [sexual harassment allegations]. Two dozen!” she exclaimed.
Later, Hostin remarkably conceded that Cuomo’s nursing home scandal would be the biggest deterrent to him running for office again. However, Behar stood firm in his defense.
“But the nursing homes–the nursing homes across the country suffered and New York was one of the first hit in the early COVID days,” she grumbled. Her co-hosts pointed out that he “covered it up” while Navarro added that he was “writing a book on leadership when this happened.”
Behar was finally done. “If you want perfection in your leaders, it’s not possible!” she complained. Hostin joined her in helping her not too long afterwards.
Both argued Cuomo was better than Ron DeSantis (Florida Republican), raising many long-debunked lies against him.
“Look at governor Death-Santis. He’s concealing the true number of COVID-related deaths. That’s been reported,” she claimed.
Behar piped up. “That’s even worse to me!” Her co-host agreed, “I think it is worse. But he’s very popular in Florida.”
As the segment ended, everyone was talking about Cuomo again by the liberal duo.
Hostin swooned for Cuomo’s leadership while arguing with Farah. “[E]very single day he was giving New Yorkers the information we needed,” she declared.
Joy Behar then repeated another media myth. “Trump said to us inject bleach while we were doing it!” she quipped.

JOY BEAR: Five months ago, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo quit following sexual harassment claims. There are now reports that he may be considering running for political office against Letitia James, the woman who allegedly abused him. Cuomo has always denied any allegations against him and he was never found guilty of a crime, to be cle–fair But can he come back from this scandal? Cuomo has lost some of his charm in public, even though he wasn’t convicted.
SUNNY HOTIN: It’s not clear that he has lost much of the support of New Yorkers. If you poll New Yorkers, I believe that they think he did an excellent job as governor. This was especially true when it came to handling the pandemic, which the Trump administration wasn’t doing well at.
The other thing that he stated during the interview with Bloomberg was that Tisha James was in fact being charged with political crimes. There is definitely something. There’s smoke where there is fire. Her interest in running for Governor was genuine. She didn’t raise enough money, she didn’t reach the 5 million dollar threshold to get the support of the DNC and the Brooklyn DNC, or the Democratic party. She does look a little political. It was a short-lived run for the governorship. This is a matter that needs to be discussed. If Trump is able to have many accusers, and still become president of the United States of America, then I believe all bets are off.
ALYSSA FAH: Sunny, it’s true that power-hungry men are party agnostic. Republicans and Democrats have both done it.
But the problem with Cuomo is not just these very credible accusations against him that were contemporaneously confirmed by other women who came forward–
HOSTIN: There is no criminal prosecution.
FARAH: There is no criminal prosecution. That’s just. However, he did an awful job with COVID.
10,000 elderly people died while he was working on a book he had profited from. He was also using public resources for research and writing the book.
If there’s one thing we learned about the Cuomos it’s, these are ego maniacs. And because of that–
JOY BEAR: They are both egomaniacs.
FARAH: This is what I know about them both. He will run for office again, I believe. He believes he is the best. He’s wanted. There’s a road there. There isn’t, but I do hope so.
ANA NAVARRO – He said to Bloomberg that too many people run for office simply because they feel it is about them. They are motivated by their need and ego. This is a lot of self reflection. This week I feel particularly Cuomoed. It has been a terrible fallout for Andrew Cuomo, according to me. We saw the executive director of the Human Rights Campaign, Alphonso David lost his job. Tina Chen from Time’s Up was fired. Time’s Up, the company was dismissed. Chris Cuomo’s job was lost. Then the devastation that’s happening at CNN, for the resignation of Jeff Zucker, who I think for us, the talent, has been very difficult to do with, again because of a Cuomo. I am Floridian and have my share of issues. My question for New Yorkers: With so many people, can you not find someone who doesn’t have as much luggage as this man?
BEHAR: They all have luggage! Tell me a politician practically–Besides Obama almost every politician has some kind of luggage!
NAVARRO
HOSTIN. The ex-president had more than two dozen. Two dozen!

SARA HAINES […]You were right about the nursing home, but my issue with his handling of that was people making mistakes. When the president didn’t make calls, he made a phone call. In fact he said out loud, I’ll leave this up to the governors even though I’m president, I’m leaving this up to the governors. Governor Cuomo stepped up. His actions were not only bad but also dangerous. Many lives were destroyed. The cover-up was my problem. If he had said we hadn’t seen this before, this was a bad call, this was on me, and done something–but the bullying of Congress- — remember the local politician that was here. He bullied his victim. He went after people. It was a way to see who he really is. That was a gross abuse of power.
HOSTIN: The scandal at the nursing home would stop Andrew Cuomo from running for the office.
BEHAR: But the nursing homes–the nursing homes across the country suffered and New York was one of the first hit in the early COVID days.
HOSTIN : He covered it all up.
BEHAR: He covered the truth.
NAVARRO: He covered it up Aa the same time he was writing a book on leadership while this was happening.
BEHAR: Your leaders don’t want perfection.
HAINES – No. But, we apologize for the error and take it into consideration.
NAVARRO – I think it is reasonable to want a governor that has not been accused of 11 acts sexual harassment.
BEHAR: His father was a very good man.
NAVARRO : But his father is not running.
HOSTIN: Take a look at Governor Death-Santis. That’s what I meant. He hides the true number of COVID-related deaths. That’s been reported–
BEHAR: That’s even worse to me.
HOSTIN: It is even worse. But he’s very popular in Florida.
NAVARRO: I was in Florida the entire time this was happening. We had such a lack of leadership, I was so convinced that Andrew Cuomo held press conferences at 11:00 AM every morning. But with all these revelations workplace, it’s also the toxic workplace, the bullying in Albany, it’s a bridge too far. He’s a nice guy. Chris Cuomo used to be my friend. But there is way too much toxicity around this entire thing and it feels like a wrath and a vendetta, and it’s up to New Yorkers, but If I was a New Yorker, I wouldn’t vote for him.
FARAH was a great speaker at the press conference. We didn’t have a leader like him.
HOSTIN – He provided great details!
FARAH – The problem with the facts is that they aren’t.
HOSTIN: What do you mean the facts weren’t there?
FARAH: On top of it–10,000 people died in the nursing home.
[Cross-talk]
HOSTIN: Every day, he gave New Yorkers all the information they needed.
BEHAR: Trump wanted us to use bleach.
[Talking over each other]
FARAH :-But to write a novel about it. And to say–By the way, we just celebrated 900,000 lives lost to COVID. It is a terrible loss. Writing a book in the midst of a pandemic how greatly you handled it — that’s just egomaniacal.
BEHAR: Do you blame him as much as you blame Republicans or not?
FARAH – I also blame many Republicans. I think that there are across the board–
BEHAR: DeSantis?
HOSTIN: How about Trump? Pence, perhaps?
FARAH – I think Trump was a major factor in the outbreak.
BEHAR: Was he right?
FARAH: I’ve said that before–If he had not politicized “Operation warp speed,” getting the vaccine to market. Then he did not go on TV to say, “Get vaccinated.” Now he’s repeating it. It was one of the best and easiest interventions that we made in our early years. These were, to me at least, the most important deals.
HOSTIN – I suspect he is responsible for hundreds and thousands of deaths. This includes the deaths of my parents.
BEHAR: [scoffs] What president wouldn’t have encouraged “Operation Warp Speed?”
FARAH: Yes, but I do have one thing to add. This is a completely new virus. We’ve had more people die under Joe Biden that President Trump. And I don’t blame Joe Biden for that.
BEHAR: Shame on those who don’t want to be vaccinated. There is a cure.
NAVARRO, Joe Biden did not intentionally politicize it or misinform it to make it politically relevant.
BEHAR: People don’t wear masks, they won’t get vaccinated, and then they blame him for not fixing it. It’s ridiculous.
