Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic, who is currently ranked 6th in the ATP World Rankings (after a record 373 weeks at the top spot) and who has seven Wimbledon titles and 21 Grand Slams under his belt, announced Thursday that he would “not be able to travel” to the United States for this month’s US Open tournament, which is being held in New York:
Unfortunately, this year’s US Open will be in New York City. I am grateful #NoleFamThank you for all your support and love. ❤️My fellow players, I wish you all the best! I’ll keep in good shape and positive spirit and wait for an opportunity to compete again. 💪🏼We hope to see you again, tennis world. 👋🏼

The reason for this, of course, is because of the United States’ travel restrictions against visitors who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Djokovic, as we’ve previously reported, has faced backlash worldwide over his decision not to get the vaccine, including in countries like Australia, which saw dictator Prime Minister Scott Morrison beclown himself back in January over the dust-up surrounding whether or not Djokovic had a “medical exemption” to play in the Australian Open.
Djokovic having to miss tournament opportunities in various countries due to him standing his ground on his decision not to get vaccinated has also earned him a lot of support from people who oppose vaccine mandates including those who support getting vaccinated but who don’t like the government putting in place “or else” directives.
Djokovic’s announcement was followed by the best suggestion, which could have him admitted to the country immediately, and without having to take the jab.
Is he considering just crossing the southern border? https://t.co/yM1fKU0S6X

This would be logical, I suppose. Djokovic could probably get into Texas via Texas borders, but not through New York.
Sounds crazy, doesn’t it?
You should also consider this: Governor Abbott may grant him a complimentary ride to New York City if he managed his cards well. Greg Abbott, who announced in June a policy authorizing busing illegal immigrants left in Abbott’s state to New York by the Biden administration, then Washington, D.C.
It’s crazy that we’re this far now into the pandemic and people outside of illegal immigrants still can’t get into this country if they either can’t prove their vaccination status or refuse to get it. It’s possible that this is true for diplomats and sports personalities as well.
I mean, Joe Biden, Jill Biden and Dr. Fauci all got COVID even though they received four doses of the vaccine, and Joe and Jill got the virus twice, so from that standpoint it’s even more understandable that people like Djokovic are like “What’s the point?”
