The Left Uses John Madden’s Death to Take Their Virtue Signaling to Weird Places – Opinion

John Madden. Now here’s a guy who brought entertainment and joy to millions of people in America and made watching football even better through his entertaining commentary that ranged from the insightful to the hilarious.

Case in point…

Madden also created one of the greatest videogame franchises, the Madden NFL Series. Nearly everyone in America owns at least one of these games. Yes, I am.

Like Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of him; “I am not aware of anyone who has made a more meaningful impact on the National Football League than John Madden, and I know of no one who loved the game more.”

But the radical left which has infected so much of our society can’t bear something like joy and innocence and has to find evil in everything like overzealous religious nuts. Madden died, and the radical left took his body down and started preaching his wrongs.

According to Bounding Into Comics, a history professor at Dallas College, Andrew McGregor, decided to curse Madden’s name for the famous video game he helped establish, saying that it dehumanized black athletes and was “plantation cosplay.”

“I have lots of opinions on John Madden The creation of the Madden video game was not a great development for the U.S. It further glamorized violence and dehumanized Black athletes, helping to establish plantation cosplay that has grown worse in the era of fantasy football.”

McGregor would go on to say that due to Madden’s “exploitative games” he didn’t deserve veneration. He also noted that the NFL is complicit in “white supremacy.”

I’ll spare you the rest of his tirade, which devolves into nonsense about how fantasy leagues are just like slavery. Bounding Into Comics captured screen shots of his rant. It became longer and more ridiculous as the time went by.

McGregor seems to have a very damaged view of the world, and it’s a view that robs agency from the men who join the NFL, and I should add that these men come from all races, creeds, and societal backgrounds.

They work hard and sacrifice a lot to be able to continue playing in the league. Many break down in tears when they’re drafted seeing their hard work pay off. Their greatest joys are the bonds they form with each other and the successes they share together.

Then their talent is recognized even further when they appear in a massively popular video game series or are selected to be a part of someone’s fantasy team.

It is a common goal for many people to reach that sort of success in their lives, and they never do. They did everything possible to reach their goal and be part of something so great.

McGregor and others like him are emphasizing that it is slavery, but with additional steps. They think they’re being woke, and that they’re piercing the veil of society and exposing some horrifying truths.

But they’re not. They’re just taking a concept of our country’s past and morphing an institution of the present so it fits in the past concept’s box. Ironically, McGregor and the social justice obsessed like him are robbing black athletes of their agency in order to do it, effectively making the athlete’s hard work benefit the woke for narrative reasons.

Madden was able to help more black young men achieve their dreams than any other social justice organization. McGregor and others who only see a color they are able to use for their purposes will not be able achieve the same good as Madden.
