Kyle Rittenhouse is proving to be a difficult case for the prosecution. Today’s testimony may have ended any chance of a guilty verdict.
For those that aren’t familiar with the case, Rittenhouse is charged with murder for shooting and killing two men during the riots that occurred during 2020 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Numerous pieces of video evidence have suggested that the shootings occurred in self defense. Amazingly, the riots started when an armed man was stopped by police as he tried to drive away with his children and a car that he was accused of stealing. While Jacob Blake survived that incident, others didn’t in all the chaos that followed.
But as RedState has reported, beginning the first day of Rittenhouse’s trial, the prosecutors have seemed to have no case at all, including having their own witnesses bolstering the claim of self-defense.
However, what has happened may be the last straw.

If you can’t watch the video, what you see is a witness admitting under questioning that he pointed a gun at Rittenhouse. The witness also stated that Rittenhouse didn’t fire his gun until the weapon was pointed at Rittenhouse. I’m no lawyer (though Viva Frei is), but it certainly doesn’t seem to get any more definitive than that. While the prosecution has struggled to present their case, it is clear that this evidence suggests that they were deliberately bringing this case.
Rittenhouse is clearly able to see that he understands what just happened, beyond the statements made in the video. He shakes his head and then grabs at his face, seemingly trying to control his emotions. We then see him taking in a deep, exaggerated breath as the case falls before his eyes.
Does this mean Rittenhouse should be acquitted? Given all of the evidence that he has, I believe he should. A jury is the best thing for me. The past has seen politics get in touch with the justice system, but until that verdict is delivered, any thing can happen. Still, as far as I’m concerned, if he’s convicted at this point, it won’t be justice served. It’ll be a travesty.
