The Dismal State of Joe Biden’s Union – Opinion

Joe Biden, the Vice President of the United States of America will address Congress tonight. He will try to present the best picture of America right now. He will achieve all of these things despite the current poll results and evidence that supports his policies.

Let’s be clear, he chose to lead now based upon what the polling shows. His CDC is removing mask mandates. His team has decided to chase the European Union’s response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine rather than to be a leader on the world stage. They’re terrified about what the November polls will reveal. Voters will not be fooled.

Just like the voters will see through tonight’s speech. Biden will declare victory over the pandemic. His polling company has told him so. His polling firm is telling him to tell Americans all the bad news is over and that it is possible for things to get back on track now that the pandemic’s endemic status is much more manageable and less deadly. His administration continued to pursue mask mandates and give confusing, contradicting rhetoric about vaccines. This all while prolonging the pandemic. They tried punishing the unvaccinated unconstitutionally and for reason tried to claim that it was all to protect the vaccinated – who were supposed to be protected by the vaccine they were pushing.

However, COVID-19 has won. Thanks, Mr. President.

The President will stand before America and tell us exactly what he’s doing to stand up to Vladimir Putin. This is the guy, after all, who promised to go toe-to-toe with Putin during the 2020 campaign and, by God, he’s doing it now. At a distance. Safely behind the European Union’s sanctions and diplomatic maneuvers. He was content to sit there, do nothing, until it was clear that he must, even though they took it all in a cautious, lawyerly way. It was not a lens which sought to demonstrate strength and hold the tyrants responsible.

The most positive picture that he is able to paint of the economy, he will do so. He will tell us about how he handed money out to us to get us through the toughest times, how we’re on the back end of this economic downturn, and how Americans will persevere. It doesn’t matter about inflation, supply chain problems, difficulties finding workers and the businesses forced to close due to all of this. The recovery is underway.

However, he said that the best way to continue the recovery is to pass the Build back Better plan. It is currently deadlocked in the Senate. He will try again to convince his party that it’s necessary to help Americans and help them win in this year’s midterms. He will hint that Republicans are the ones who need to get on board, but really it’s Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema (publicly) that are blocking it.

Yes, it’s his agenda that will get us out of this mess. We are getting deeper and deeper into the mess because of his agenda. He will try to convince us that more of the same will pull us through and that we’ll be better than we were before if we just go with his plans.

But, across the board, the polling shows Americans don’t trust Biden. These trends continue. His approval rating is dropping by two-digits compared to his disapproval ratings. Americans consider his first year an absolute disaster and there is little chance he’ll be able recover before the midterm elections.

Biden has poll numbers that are lower than 2010, 2014 and 2010 which were huge wave years in the Republican Party’s favor. It’s still early in the year and something could happen to change things, but right now it’s absolutely cataclysmic for the Democrats. Tonight’s State of the Union address will attempt to paint a rosy picture. He will try to pull the wool over Americans’ eyes.

But it won’t work. Americans are smarter than this.
