Resurfaced texts between Sean Hannity and Kayleigh McEnany, Donald Trump’s former press secretary, are causing waves after they were publicized during Monday’s January 6th hearing.
Hannity made several comments in the exchange that took place just one day following unrest at Capitol. These statements provide insight into how Hannity and McEnany disagree on the best way to move forward after 2020. The Fox News host stated “no more crazy people,” a message McEnany enthusiastically agreed with. Hannity then went on to give five bullet points for how to move forward, including “No more stolen election talk.”

Looking at the text timings, Hannity seemed to be rushing the clock at that time. The stolen election narrative, however one may fall on the issue, was ingrained in Trump’s public pursuit and wasn’t going anywhere. Heck, it’s still a staple of almost everything he says to this day.
As to “no more crazy people,” that would have been good advice at the end of November 2020. Rudy Giuliani, Sydney Powell and others had done the worst. Trump had to have top professionals at his disposal in such an emergency. Not self-absorbed, self-destructive people.
As the results show, there were numerous blunders. More viable claims weren’t pursued, while Powell promised magical bags with ballots that she would never deliver. Meanwhile, Giuliani simply didn’t have the expertise to lead such an effort, and it showed.
Interesting that Hannity suggested reconciling with Pence. Trump said he was open to the idea at that time. Obviously, that didn’t happen in any way, shape, or form, and I don’t think it’s going out on much of a limb to say it’ll never happen, especially since Pence has telegraphed that he’s going to run in the 2024 election.
Another thing that raised eyebrows is Hannity’s mention of pardoning “Hunter.” Some have suggested the Fox News personality meant Duncan Hunter, but that pardon had already happened earlier in December. However, Hannity may have actually suggested the pardon of Hunter Biden. This is why I ask.
Maybe I’m not playing 5D chess, but I fail to see what pardoning Hunter Biden would have accomplished other than letting a degenerate crook off the hook. The timing is important. January 6th’s ineptness was due to the fact that it effectively stopped any serious pursuit of electoral fraud. After that, Joe Biden could not receive any text messages from Trump. Because he was the next President. Hannity would be foolish to allow Hunter Biden to get away with it, when the country would lose nothing. Is it really necessary to stump for this at such a critical moment? He thought it would bring Trump back to his good graces. Those are questions I’d like to hear him answer.
Regardless, what’s clear from the text messages presented is that Trump doesn’t listen to Hannity at all. For all the accusations that he’s an informal advisor, none of the Fox News host’s advice got taken.
