Ted Cruz Rolls out ‘Energy Freedom Act’ as Biden’s Energy-Dependent Chickens Come Home to Roost – Opinion

Texas Senator Ted Cruz, on Friday, introduced a comprehensive energy independence bill, which will undoubtedly lead the Democrat Party to pretend to lose its collective “climate change” minds over the mere thought of American energy independence. “Mainstream” Democrats must do their best to keep renowned climatologist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her band of “Green New Energy” loons at bay, you know.

According to a Friday press release from Cruz’s Senate website, the objective of the comprehensive Energy Freedom Act is to “make America energy independent again by accelerating federal permitting for energy projects and pipelines, mandating new onshore and offshore oil and gas lease sales, approving pending LNG export licenses,” as well as “generally speeding up solar, wind, and geothermal development.”

As he introduced the legislation, Cruz rightly blasted Joe Biden and his energy-killing policies, which he began on day one of his occupation of the Oval Office by revoking a key permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, effectively killing the $8 billion project — along with killing 1,000 current jobs and another 10,000 future jobs that will not be created as a result of the pipeline’s demise. The United States lost its position as a net oil exporter in the last year under Joe Biden, having achieved this goal for the first-time since 1949. Why? It’s because President Biden, on the first day of his presidency, issued hostile and illegal orders targeting American oil and gas producers. These orders have led to increased oil prices and profits for other oil-exporting nations.

This policy has poured billions into Iran and Russia, who use these funds to strike our allies and compromise America’s national security. Biden has placed greater restrictions on U.S. oil firms than he did on Russian oil.

As Iran broke through the sanctions, and their exports soared to over one million barrels per daily for the first-time in nearly three years, Obama has stood by them.

A textbook example of why the left hates conservatives — and Ted Cruz, principal among them. Why? The facts. Rush Limbaugh said it best: “If you want to make a conservative angry, tell him a lie. If you want to make a liberal angry, tell him the truth” — President Apple Sauce Brains™ among them.

Cruz suggested his legislation wouldn’t “cost taxpayers a dime,” and would instead generate “billions in the coming years.”

I’m introducing the Energy Freedom Act to reverse Biden’s actions so we can restore American energy independence. This bill won’t cost taxpayers a dime, but it will provide the United States billions in revenue in the coming years by expediting permitting, leasing, safe new pipelines, and exports, and providing much-needed regulatory certainty.

It would create new jobs, lower energy costs, and because modern energy production in the United States is far cleaner than in any other country’s by every measure, it would help the environment.

The Energy Freedom Act would put a stop to the Biden administration’s sabotage of the American energy industry, and Congress should take it up without delay.

Here’s a partial list of what the website says the Energy Freedom Act does:

The president cannot unilaterally adopt leasing bans for federal lands.

The presidential permit requirement is eliminated for energy projects that cross borders.

Mandates the onshore and offshore oil, gas, wind, solar, and geothermal lease sales which have been “paused” since January 2021.

By increasing access to critical minerals and streamlining permit processes, foreign dependence can be reduced.

The expedites permit and increase the range of environmental reviews.

The timing of Cruz’s introduction of a comprehensive energy independence bill couldn’t be better for America and worse for Biden and the Democrats. To partially borrow a phrase from Barack Obama’s pal, Reverend Jeremiah Wright, Biden’s Energie-dependent chickensThe Russian invasion of Ukraine is continuing to push skyrocketing oil and gasoline prices further up.

Even potentially far worse, as reported by RedState, Transportation Secretary — Electric Car Salesman of the Month wannabe — Pete Buttigieg, on Thursday, admitted during an appearance on MSNBC that buying oil from the mad mullahs in Tehran is now “on the table.”

For a split second, think about this. American dependency on foreign oil could lead to disaster. Iranian oil Potentially, catastrophic, as reported by my colleague Streiff, the Pentagon announced on Wednesday it was scrapping a long-scheduled missile test, as Streiff suggested, out of fear of angering “the Russians they need for an Iran nuclear deal.”
