Joe Scarborough is proud to call himself a conservative. Today’sMorning Joe, Scarborough actually made the case Against The Supreme Court is currently reviewing the Mississippi case to determine whether Roe v. Wade should be overturned.
Scarborough repeatedly mentioned opinion polls that indicated most Americans don’t support Roe being overturned, as if this is what the Court should be guided by.
I know people don’t like to think that the Supreme Court looks at opinion, public opinion, but you have, like, Seven in ten Americans said they would not like Roe being overthrown. This is a precedent that will last 50 years and it’s expected to end next year. 70% of Americans are in favor Roe v. Wade.Next year’s precedent, I believe.A precedent dating back to half-century ago. You look at this poll from ABC News, and it’s, again, pretty overwhelming. The poll shows 60% of respondents support the idea, while 27% are against. Everything I’ve seen from Gallup through the years, overturning is either one-third of Americans or less than one-third of Americans.
He stated that the Court must remember that we are “constitutional republics”. Right! Right!
Al Sharpton, Scarborough, and Al Sharpton both trotted out a hackneyed liberal line about Republicans not being pro-life parties due to their positions on guns control and Covid as well as government programs that support children. “They’re pro-life until the kid is born, then they’re against any kind of support for the same children….And the very people that are running around self-righteously beating their chests, talking about supporting pro-life issues, are the very people who, of course, won’t do what 90% of Americans want and get universal background checks.” You think you care only about the children, if your support large-government programs?
Scarborough continued bitterly attacking Republicans:This is not an anti-life party. This is not even close.”
Sharpton also attacked “moralists”, on the Court. “…These moralists that can’t divide personal views, religious or whatever we may have, from how you govern and giving people the right to chooseWhere they would like to go in their life.” As though the Court should ignore morality in its decisions? Sharpton doesn’t think Justices should consider morality when morality is bent in the manner he would like it to be decided.
A discussion about the facts of the case as well as the constitutional basis of Roe was absent from this segment. This is something that, as we noted previously, MSNBC’s legal analyst had acknowledged.
The big surprise came in Elise Jordan. She is a “MSNBC Republican” and said something suggesting she might have pro-life views. It was clear that she wasn’t happy with the performance of Mississippi’s lawyers in defense of its law restricting abortion. Scarborough was a part of her exchange.
JORDAN: I don’t really have that much faith that Mississippi has terrific counsel that is going to be able to make the case, frankly, if I’m going to give my brutal –
SCARBOROUGH: To get the court off of –
JORDAN: Roe V. Wade should be overturned. I’m not – I don’t have that much confidence.

6:01 am ETJOE SCARBOROUGH – Big day in Mississippi
ELISE JORDAN: They’re missing out on covering Mississippi drama, Mississippi—we deserve full coverage as this Supreme Court case is center stage.
SCARBOROUGH – What are you thinking?
JORDAN: I don’t really have that much faith that Mississippi has terrific counsel that’s going to be able to make the case, frankly, if I’m going to give my brutal –
SCARBOROUGH: You mean, to get the court off of –
JORDAN: Yes. To overturn Roe and Wade. I just, I’m not – I don’t have that much confidence.
SCARBOROUGH, Mississippi attorneys
JORDAN: Yes.
SCARBOROUGH, I must say that it is very steep. You look, and I know people don’t like to think that the Supreme Court looks at opinion, public opinion, but you have, like, Seven out of ten Americans say they don’t want Roe to be overturned. The precedent will be in place for 50 years, and it’ll start next year. . . Roe v. Wade has 70% support.Next year’s precedent, I believe.A precedent dating back to half-century ago. You look at this poll from ABC News, and it’s, again, pretty overwhelming. The poll shows 60% of respondents support the idea, while 27% are against. Everything I’ve seen from Gallup through the years, overturning is either one-third of Americans or less than one-third of Americans.
. . .
It is a matter of “What are you looking for?” Is this Court truly going to overturn a precedent of 50 years that 27% support in America? It is true, they see the law and follow it. they also understand that they’re in a constitutional republic.
. . .
AL SHARPTON – My concern is double. Two, it is likely that people who would most be affected by it will still seek to have abortions. This increases the dangers.
SCARBOROUGH: Right.
SHARPTON — Especially among communities that are disadvantaged and those of color. And, secondly, The moralists that can’t divide personal views, religious or whatever we may have, from how you govern and giving people the right to chooseThey can choose where they wish to be in their lives.
SCARBOROUGH: Yeah.
SHARPTON:People who will be there until their child’s birth. They’re pro-life until the kid is born, then they’re against any kind of support for the same children.
SCARBOROUGH: Well, yesterday, and we’ll be getting into it a little later, you had a senator from Connecticut give a very stirring speech, Willie, about the culture of life. Here are some other things. the very people that are running around self-righteously beating their chests, talking about supporting pro-life issues, are the very people who, of course, won’t do what 90% of Americans want and get universal background checks.
. . .
Really, please? Everybody I’ve heard talking about being prolife back [laughs derisively] in the age of Covid, where they are deliberately lying, like Ronnie Jackson, Dr. Ronnie Jackson, deliberately lying to their people and they know they’re deliberately lying to their people, and putting their constituents’ lives in danger. This is not an anti-life party. This is not even close.
