Liberal media don’t ignore the John Durham probe. They “report” it, implying that it is the latest pile of MAGA propaganda. CNN has covered it by having Brian Stelter scream “HOAX!” at Fox News, and other conservative outlets.
The headline of his article was: “Right-wing media claimed it was uncovering a scandal.” It really showed how badly information is spread in MAGA World.
Stelter provided a summary of his disapproving analysis in “Reliable sources” newsletter. Stelter used bold font below, and not mine.
I felYou can find it here compelled to write about it, too, because tIt is less important than the explosion in false claims that resulted from the actual court filing.. Takeaways from the POV of a media phenomenon:
Translation: Don’t pay attention to the Special Counsel hiding behind the curtains! CNN promoted every rumour about the Robert Mueller probe for years. They pushed a scandal — collusion between Trump’s and Russians — into existence, which Mueller never proved. But:
>> It seemed like Donald TrumpMedia allies attempted to make a scandal a reality. The talk had a snake-eating-its-own-tail quality. However, it was successful.
CNN has a lecture about cable coverage that is “snake-eating its own tail”. This, from the network with 77 stories gossiping about nonexistent “pee tapes.” Stelter insisted that “journalistic analysis”, isn’t the conservative way of doing things.
>> The ideological outlets that blew the filing way out of proportion weren’t incentivized to apply journalistic analysis to the filing. The opposite was incentivized.
This is CNN’s usual bluster about Fox News being an ideological outlet and CNN not. Fox is a hyperbolic talk channel , and CNN isn’t:
>> Right-wing media outlets such as Fox are driven by hyperbolic talk and not news. Almost all of Fox’s coverage has been political talk driven by hosts and guests, not news reporting by correspondents.
What makes CNN think it covered Russia, Russia and Russia? CNN has three years of hyperbolic talk. They now use the January 6 probes to get hyperbolic talk. They doom-scroll daily on “Democracy In Peril”!
>> Before reporters from normal news outlets could even dig into the filing, Fox’s abnormal operation screamed “MEDIA IGNORES DURHAM BOMBSHELL.” As part of the media cover-up, later fact-checks were made.
We are still waiting for ABC and CBS to reach out to us about the Durham filing. CNN and MSNBC have a minute count. True, the “fact-checks” and “explainers”, in fact, are both “explainaway-ers”.
Stelter spoke with Marc Elias about his purchase and payment for Steele Dossier. He could not help but express sympathy, as well as ask him “How do you deal that intense scrutiny, coverage, criticism from the right-wing media?” Stelter was praised by Elias. That should tell you precisely where Stelter and his “HOAX” blather is always based.
