Stacey Abrams Tries to Do Damage Control on Remarks About Georgia, Makes Things Worse – Opinion

Stacey Abrams was speaking on Saturday at a Georgia Democrat Party gala in Norcross, Georgia. She tried to present her case but, like every other Democrat gubernatorial candidate, she managed to put her entire foot in her mouth while trying to convince the audience. ReelectionElection as Governor, Gwinnett Daily Post reported.

She pointed to a mantra Republicans have touted for years — Georgia is the No. 1 state to do business — and contrasted it to issues such as mental health care, maternal mortality, wages and incarceration.

“I am tired of hearing about how we’re the best state in the country to do business when we are the worst state in the country to live,” said Abrams before she acknowledged Republicans would attack her for the later part of that statement.

According to the Daily Post, Abrams immediately realized she needed it. would be attackedFor bringing down her own state. She tried to divert attention from her error, which is what Democrats do when they don’t have a message or something to share with voters. Abrams instead spoke out about Georgia’s best state. Live in.

“Let me contextualize. When you’re No. 48 for mental health, when we’re No. 1. For maternal mortality. If you have a rising incarceration rate and declining wages, you’re not No. 1 place to live.”

It’s so clear that she failed to make whatever point she meant to here. These things do not have an impact on the decision of whether or not businesses should move to Georgia. It’s just a litany of progressive talking points — without any solutions but bigger goverment and higher taxes.

The Daily Post actually pointed out an issue with Gov. Brian Kemp and the GOP’s track record on improving mental health in the state;

While she acknowledged the General Assembly passed mental health reform legislation this year, she said half-a-million people who need that care can’t access it without Medicaid expansion.

That’s the only possible solution, for Abrams and the Democrats — putting more people on government healthcare.

Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve written about Stacey Abrams getting over her skis with what she’s said or done. She’s truly an albatross for the Democrats, with her intimating she might question the results of the midterms, making cameos on “Star Trek,” and using the political spotlight as her own personal piggybank.

One other thing that’s one of Abrams’ favorite topics is the inability of minorities on Georgia to vote, most likely perpetrated by the evil, racist Republicans. But she’ll have to find something other injustice to sell to people; as my colleague Brad Slager wrote recently, the Peach state saw a record voter turnout the first day of early voting in May. The second day it was even greater. Oops.
