It is said that even a broken clock can be right twice daily. This was the case today. The View, as the Mike Pence haters gave him reluctant applause for rebuking President Trump’s claim that he had the power to overturn the 2020 election. One stubborn host denied him credit.
The panel unanimously and surprisingly pursued Democrat Stacey Abrams, who was seen wearing a mask at an elementary school with a mandate to wear one.
First, co-host Sunny Hostin bristled at her peers for commending the former VP, after he said at a Federalist Society dinner that Trump’s comments were “wrong” and “unAmerican:” “I had no right to overturn the election. The presidency belongs to the American people, and the American people alone,” he explained.
“It took him thirteen months, but I applaud him, nonetheless,” Ana Navarro offered. She sneered that it was the least he could do to, “try to recover a modicum of dignity.” But the CNN Republican demanded he appear before the January 6 committee as well.
Sara Haines and Joy Behar also noted Pence’s comments were “important” with Behar even giving him “points” for doing something that she thought would endanger his or his family’s life.
But Hostin couldn’t abide by this very mild praise. In describing Pence’s targeting of gays, she displayed her anti-Christian bigotry.
You know what? 13 months later, I still don’t get any applause. Where are we if the standard is so low? He’s even talking about constitutional rights. It’s funny, because I was able to see his entire record as he managed the U.S. Coronavirus response.
…And then when you look at his record as governor of Indiana and he passed so many unconstitutional laws and signed so many unconstitutional laws targeting the LGBTQ+ community, and I think he’s also spoken against the repeal of don’t ask, don’t tell. Also, he signed, let’s see, the Indiana religious restoration act which led the way for individuals and businesses to refuse service to the LGBTQ community. He did not respond to the AIDS epidemic, or the HIV crisis. Don’t worry. He’s the same person he was always. Donald Trump sold him his soul, and now he is ready to address the federalist panel.. Um, okay?
As Navarro defended Pence’s integrity as a lifelong conservative, Hostin shot back, “He is a discriminator against homosexuals. Is that a conservative value?”
The hosts were divided about Pence but all appeared embarrassed for Georgia governor candidate Stacey Abrams. This was after Abrams faced backlash because she posed maskless in front of masked children for a photo this week. While visiting an elementary school, she was required to wear a mask.
“Could she have read the room a little bit better there?” Behar wondered before admitting she was “shocked” that “one of the most intelligent people in politics” would “slip up…and give aid and comfort to the other side.” Is it really that surprising though, considering how many mask and mandate hypocrites there are on the left?
Hostin agreed with Abrams’ conservative critics that this was blatant “hypocrisy,” but like Behar, she seemed more upset this gave fodder to the right.
“Why do that? What good is giving the right more ammunition? They always go after her anyway, and I think it was really hypocritical actually.” After reading Abrams’ self-righteous defense of her behavior, Hostin became more critical of the former favorite guest on The View
“The point is she was not wearing a mask when she is one of those proponents of mask mandates….She should have worn a mask. This is a ridiculous excuse.”
Navarro reminded the show’s liberal viewers that Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti was also busted posing maskless recently at an indoor sports event, while LA county has an indoor mask mandate in place. She forgot to mention another. ViewFavorite: Governor Gavin Newsom of San Francisco and Mayor London Breed of San Francisco were at the event as well, and they also posed maskless for photographs!
“[S]o I think people really resent this idea of rules for thee — you know, rules for me, but not for thee,” Navarro accurately noted. Frequent Democrat-hypocrite defender Joy Behar still grumbled, “But is this really so egregious? [Greg] Abbott and [Ron] DeSantis really saying, ‘don’t wear the masks,’ ‘no mandates,’ ‘no masks,’ that’s much more destructive than one person slipping up in my opinion!”

JOY BEHAR: Very interesting that he came out this way. You don’t think so. Do you think Republicans will heed this warning? Or will they keep playing the political line that the commission was a witch hunt and ignore it?
…
ANA NAVARRO -: First, let’s discuss the RNC. RNC, this censorship of Kinzinger and Liz Cheney — picture Dick Cheney’s daughter being censured. It seems that the RNC now represents Republicans without any cajones. The RNC has become a religious cult, and the people worship Trump. Although it’s absurd, Mike Pence took thirteen months. However, I admire him for doing so.
BEHAR: Yeah.
NAVARRO: I’m not sure what choice he has, right? Donald Trump will never admit that he lost. And Donald Trump won’t forgive Mike Pence for his role in the conspiracy. Mike Pence, as long as Donald Trump holds power over the Republican Party, which he currently does, is not going to be able to make a political difference. He should try to regain some dignity, given all that. Mike Pence should know that if you are feeling strongly about it, instead of speaking to the federalist society in front, you should address the January 6th committee in front and share what you know.
BEHAR: I found it valuable to address the Federalist [society].
SUNNY HOSTIN: I just — I don’t know. You know what? 13 months later, I didn’t realize that you receive applause when you do the right thing. Where are we if the standard is so low? He’s even talking about constitutional rights. You see, I can recall looking through his records when he was in charge of U.S. Coronavirus Response. He was completely inadequate.
BEHAR: Yeah.
HOSTIN: Then, when you take a look at his record in Indiana as governor, there are so many unconstitutional and unconstitutional acts that he has signed, which targets the LGBTQ+ community. I believe he also spoke against repealing don’t ask don’t tell. Also, he signed, let’s see, the Indiana religious restoration act which led the way for individuals and businesses to refuse service to the lgbtq community. He did not respond to the AIDS crisis. Don’t worry. He’s the same person he was always. Donald Trump sold him his soul, and now he is ready to address the federalist panel.. Um, okay?
But the fact that the Republican party in my view is normalizing violence, um, is going to beget more violence. This was political discourse.
BEHAR: Or tourism–
HOSTIN: 140 officers of the police
BEHAR: We’re really watching Americans think that Americans are stupid.
HOSTIN: They are. HOSTIN: It’s almost as if the American public is able to remember everything in a blink of an eye. It seems like people suddenly don’t know what to do with their lives. It is my memory that 140 officers of the police were hurt, which I believe to be law and order in our community. Law and order
BEHAR: Party.
HOSTIN: Republicans – The law and order party. Is that you?
…
NAVARRO: …[I] think that we should applaud them for doing the right thing, but you’re right it is a very low bar. But that’s where we are.
HOSTIN:At this moment, the bar is at its lowest point.
NAVARRO: Okay, some will need to crawl underneath it like insects.
…
NAVARRO: Mike Pence is a lifelong ideological conservative. It’s like Donald Trump.
HOSTIN: He discriminates against gay people. Does that constitute a conservative value or?
(…)
JOY BEAR: Should she have spent a bit more time in the room reading? I’m a little bit shocked because Stacey Abrams to me is one of the most intelligent people in politics.
HOSTIN: Brilliant.
BEHAR She did exactly that.
HOSTIN: She did.
BEHAR: I’m surprised at her, to tell you the truth.
HOSTIN: Was it an unforced mistake? HOSTIN: It was an unforced error? You don’t need to give them more ammunition. It’s a common practice to pursue her in this way, which I find hypocritical. It was her statement. First, it has nothing do with black history month. It is important to note that she wasn’t wearing a mask while she supported mask mandates. She said in her statement that her people stated she asked for it. The mask she wore to school was later taken off by her for listening and viewing remotely.
BEHAR: Yeah.
HOSTIN – She should have worn an actual mask. It’s an excuse that doesn’t work.
ANA NAVARRO He claimed that he held his breath while taking pictures.
HOSTIN: That’s ridiculous.
NAVARRO is so dumb!
[laughing]
BEHAR: It’s kind of funny.
[laughing]
NAVARRO :…I think that people really dislike the idea of rules and regulations for thee — rules for me but not for you.
BEHAR: Yes, but it’s not as bad as someone like Abbott or DeSantis saying “Don’t wear the masks.” My opinion is that there’s no mandate, and certainly not any masks which are more damaging than one person falling for it.
