SHOCK: Chris Cuomo Trashes January 6 Committee as ‘Gotcha Game’

Newly announced NewsNation primetime host Chris Cuomo raised eyebrows during the latest edition of his podcast (The Chris Cuomo Project) on Thursday, after he bucked the liberal media’s glorification of the Democrat-led January 6 Committee by suggesting they were playing a “gotcha game” and “tearing at the fabric” of America like they did with the impeachment for former President Trump. He also chided the media for “fan[ing] the flames” that “need to be smothered.”

Following his announcement on NewsNation of his new program, seemingly taking a shotCuomo was disgraced ex-boss Jeff Zucker and CNN, so he resigned from the commission. He did feel “there could be crimes, especially on this [fake] elector front that we’re just learning about now.” But, “less so I think around the planning and the practical aspects of what happened on January 6. I don’t see that there’s criminality there, at least in what’s been offered.”

Then he thought: “are we really learning enough about what matters? Is this becoming a game of gotcha? Like the impeachment.”

Suggesting that the impeachment did matter at some level, he lamented that “you knew you were never going to have the outcome … The outcome was never going to be what was desired.” And he didn’t buy the argument that it was just Congress doing their job for the good of the country. “Was that really in America’s interest?” He was curious.

Speaking about those hoping to lock up former President Trump for “treason,” Cuomo scoffed. “Why even go there? They go there because it fuels the fringe aspects of the party.” He advised them that “you wind up undercutting your purpose when you exaggerate the desired outcome or consequence.”

Cuomo said that it was reminiscent of Republicans targeting former President Bill Clinton during the 1990s. He then denounced the entire process, declaring “no thanks” to “politicians making politics into a policing action with criminal consequences.” “Not with Clinton, not with Trump and his cronies,” he said.

Cuomo asked the committee for permission to let the Department of Justice investigate and bring forth its charges.

Because of the consequences sought, January 6 hearings have no impact on consensus. All of us now know the outcome and we can all agree that Trump and Co. were a terrible bunch. Regular people get it. Let the Department of Justice investigate any crimes committed, particularly on the electors’ front. The local prosecutors will figure it all out. Our prosecutors don’t have to be told what to do by politicians.

He says that the media is chit-chatting with him “fans the flames” for the “provocative” headlinesAdmissions “they are reflecting what the Democrats and others are saying,They should also be pushing back. All flames do not need to go out. Some need to be smothered.”

Calling for “Less distraction more traction on what matters to you: regular people,” Cuomo drew attention to “gas prices” and how they’re “choking commerce, choking family budgets, changing how we live, changing how we enjoy our lives.”

Cuomo spoke about culture war, economics, and ending the two-party system in the remainder of the monologue. The episode ended with a conversation lasting over 48 minutes that featured Joe Manchin, West Virginia Democratic Senator.

CHRIS CUOMO (Yes, it’s in your best interest to find out what happened. Also who was responsible. It is possible that there are crimes on the front of the fugazi voters, which we only now know about. The planning aspect and the practicalities surrounding what occurred on January 6 are more important to me. It’s not clear to me that there is criminality, at least from what I’ve seen.

The question I have is: Are we learning enough about the important things? This is becoming too much of a gotcha game. The impeachment.

The issues involved in the impeachment are not irrelevant. However, you already knew the outcome was unlikely. The argument was well, “but this is what we have to do. This is our job.” It’s not clear. I don’t know. That kind of inciting of tension and that long-term process, when you knew you were not going to take out the President, I don’t understand. Is this really what America wanted? It is certainly possible. It is certainly possible. It was not what we wanted.

It’s clear that Trump and his associates were guilty of doing terrible things, just as in the Mueller investigation. These are things that they were aware they should have avoided and, arguably, it makes them bad leaders. Trump being convicted of treason is not the answer. Is it worth going there? It fuels fringe parties.

Collaboration with Russian operatives. Yes. Yes. Collusion can be described as behavior. The crime isn’t collusion, it’s conspiracy. This was not going to lead to any prosecution. Why tear apart the fabric in this way? You can expose what the fabric is and, if possible, make it political.

To inflame more anger, foment tension and lie to inflame. To watch violence but not to cause it. All of these are terrible. But is this treason?

When you overstate the desired result or outcome, it can cause you to lose your point. This reminds me of the time when Clinton was wanted by the Right to be tried for libel.

The fake morality was not the issue. It’s obvious that politicians simply don’t understand Americans. The ideal person is not what you seek. Your goal is a better union. People who can lead you with actions and ideas that improve us or make us more humane are what we want.

Politicians turning politics into a police state with criminal penalties? No, thanks. Not with Clinton, not with Trump and his cronies, not with “but her emails.” Not saying that now, right?

Because of the consequences sought, January 6 hearings have no impact on consensus. All of us now know the outcome and we can all agree that Trump and Co. were a terrible bunch. Regular people get it. Let the Department of Justice investigate any crimes committed, particularly on the electors’ front. The local prosecutors will figure it all out. Our prosecutors don’t have to be told what to do by politicians.

It’s the media. The media fan the flames. Why? ‘Criminal reference,’ ‘criminal consequences.’ That’s provocative. These are echoes of what Democrats and others have said, but they should also be pushing back. All flames don’t need to be fed, you know. Others need to be put out of their misery. You will get more focus on the things that matter to you if there is less distraction. People who are regular.

Although democracy does matter, I don’t believe it should be ignored. Our institutions do not need to be destroyed. Yes, they do. However, do they really believe that this is what these hearings ultimately produce?

The rising gas prices are choking commerce and family finances, changing our lifestyles and affecting how we have fun with our lives.
