It’s Friday for all those who truly believe in Life. The Left and its allies are screaming hate and making threats while conservatives rejoice and take a victory lap at the decision. Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.
This is fair and true. This victory over death merchants will be even more sweet for the people who have been there since the beginning.
Shirley Lang has prayed for 50 years to live long enough so she can see the day.
There was never a doubt in her heart that Roe v. Wade — the landmark Supreme Court case that enshrined a woman’s constitutional right to an abortion in 1973 — would eventually be overturned, as happened on Friday.
That was the question.
“I didn’t think it would take this long,” the 88-year-old Lincoln woman said. “There have been people praying all over America to undo this because it is wrong.”
Lang attended the 1974 March for Life, at which one of the Senators planted a seed.
The words that a senator of a state spoke to demonstrators on Capitol Hill are still vividly recalled by her.
“He said ‘You are on the right side, but you’re going to have to work at this for years,’” she said.
Lang took those words to heart. He eventually founded Lincoln Right to Life.
“I felt like I had to do something about it,” she said.
Lincoln Right To Life (LRTL), which is still active, carries the torch of Nebraska’s prolife cause. This resource center provides educational material, speakers and support for other pro-life people and groups in Lincoln. Along with praying to see the end of abortion, they have maintained a “legal and peaceful presence” at the local abortion clinic. LRTL also supports organizations like the “Sidewalk Advocates for Life-Lincoln,” and “Helpers of God’s Precious Infants” who offer active assistance to women with unplanned pregnancies, presenting them with options other than terminating the pregnancy.
Shirley Lang, a trailblazer in pro-life activism and a seed that grew into a strong movement throughout Nebraska, helped to keep the momentum going. Shirley Lang was so influential that it inspired the creation of The Dobbs decision, Gov. Pete Ricketts intends to call an extraordinary session of the legislature to repeal abortions in the state.
Roe v. Wade took away the states’ right to regulate abortion and cost millions of babies their lives.

Missouri, South Dakota, Arkansas and others have ended abortion in their states.
Lang’s story is just one of thousands of women and men who forged the path through prayer, resources, marches, and petitions. One child at a moment, one woman at the time. We grieve for the death of the 63,000,000 people who were murdered in the last 50 years. But imagine how many more if Shirley Lang was there?
That’s even more reason to Feel Good.
