According to multiple reports, the attacker who attacked Salman Rushdie with a knife on Friday pleaded guilty but was not released from jail.
The acclaimed author is still in hospital, suffering from severe injuries. Although the hospital did not release any additional information Friday, his agent sent the New York Times.
An email sent by Andrew Wylie, his agent, stated that Rushdie had been under Iranian proscription for decades and was now on a ventilator. He had also gone through hours of surgery.
Efforts to reach Mr. Wylie on Saturday were unsuccessful.Wylie said on Friday that the author’s condition was “not good.” Mr. Rushdie might lose an eye, his liver had been damaged and the nerves in his arm were severed, he said.
RedState reports that a 24-year-old man, identified now as Hadi Matar, jumped on a podium in New York’s upstate and began beating Rushdie. During his arraignment, prosecutors further described Rushdie’s horrific wounds, as CNN reports:
Rushdie’s injuries included three stab wounds to the right side of the front of his neck, four stab wounds to his stomach, a puncture wound to his right eye, a puncture wound to his chest, and a laceration on his right thigh, according to Chautauqua County District Attorney Jason Schmidt, who provided details of the injuries during Matar’s arraignment.

The attack was described by the prosecution as being planned. According to the Times
At court [Saturday]Prosecutors stated that the attacker on the author had been premeditated. According to the prosecutors, Mr. Matar traveled to West New York by bus and bought a pass to allow him to go to Mr. Rushdie’s talk on Friday morning.
After Matar’s not-guilty plea, the judge refused bail and he was taken to the Chautauqua County Jail. He’ll be back at court Friday. New York police stated that they had briefed him Friday. did not yet know Matar’s motivationand will work closely with the FBI for investigation. One doesn’t have to look far though to have enough information to make an educated guess. As Nick Arama reported:
His Facebook page had lots of Iranian connections, with photos of Qasem Solimani and Ayatollah. According to the NY Post, Matar made posts in support of Iran and its Revolutionary Guard, and in support of Shi’a extremism more broadly.
The Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini declared a fatwa in 1989, calling for Rushdie’s death for writing his book, “The Satanic Verses,” which the Ayatollah declared blasphemous. Iran’s present “Supreme Leader” Ayatollah Khameini reminded everyone in 2019 the fatwa was still on.
Keep in mind that Iran was the country with whom former President Barack Obama signed a nuke pact. Joe Biden tried to persuade the despotic leaders of Iran to negotiate. Last week, an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officer was charged with plotting to assassinate former U.S. President Barack Obama. John Bolton, National Security Advisor and Ambassador to the United Nations. Rushdie was stabbed by the Iranian National Guard Corps. posting on Telegram: “When the date and time comes, Trump & Bolton will see the [same] fate as Salman Rushdie. Even if many years pass…” Evil, right in plain sight.
Iran is plotting to kill Salman Rushdie from 1989. They offer a bounty for anyone who assassinates them.
He was attacked by stage attackers yesterday.
As such, the Biden administration will continue to have talks with this terroristic regime.

Saturday was a day of celebration for President Biden.
Truth. Courage. Resilience. Resilience is the ability to freely share your ideas and not be afraid. These basic building blocks form a free and open society. Today, we stand in solidarity with Rushdie as well as all who support freedom of expression and reaffirm the American values that have been our foundation.
Exactly, which is why we shouldn’t trust the dictators who run Iran. The statement doesn’t include the words “Khamenei,” “Iran,” “IRGC”, or “Fatwa.” It fails to hold the Iranians to account at all. Iran, once more, is an evil, dangerous foe that should be held accountable, particularly in the context of a nuclear agreement. The fatwa placed on Rushdie’s head was against everything our country stands for, and the current Iranian regime’s failure to denounce it shows us their true colors. Again.
