We’ve seen so many examples of Democrats blowing off COVID restrictions and mandates when it comes to their own actions, even as they are imposing them or promoting them for everyone else. We’ve even seen Joe Biden busted at a D.C. restaurant, flouting the city’s mask mandate. Of course, Biden couldn’t even adhere to the federal property mask mandate that he imposed for even a day.
Now, we bring you not just one violator but a boatload of Democrats playing the “Rules for thee but not for me” game at the Conference in Puerto Rico. Somos Conference was a retreat for legislators from New York to enjoy a party in Puerto Rico while also attending workshops and pretending that they care about the island.
Now, we start off the story noting that in Puerto Rico, there’s a mask mandate for indoor businesses. Website of the Somos Conference also mentions the mask mandate.
Despite all that, here’s Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) dancing up a storm with other NYC politicians.

This is him with Carlina Rivera (NYC Council Member).

He and the others in attendance do not appear to have masks. The NY Times reporter who captured him dancing failed to mention the mandate.
NY Gov. Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia Jam were both present without masks during the event.
Bronx women are welcome at SOMOS!
You are most welcome @mvelaznyc @althea4theBX @AmandaFariasNYCPlease see the following: @PiSanchezNYCTo the NYC Council

Tish James is truly everywhere at Somos. I saw her at an AAPI reception to welcome new Council members today, then she’s at the Hispanic Women’s Organization’s awards luncheon. Hochul is said to have been attending private meetings ever since the labor breakfast. pic.twitter.com/D5Zdk4Iqcr

Next, we have Randi Weingarten from the AFT, the head of the teachers union, and Meisha Porter, the NYC Department of Education Chief, without masks.
It’s hard not to love school leaders @rweingarten @DOEChancellor mingle with others..in a packed room…with no masks..yet…I wonder if everyone needed proof of Vax to attend this ‘work vaca’…they sure didn’t need masks…@AppletoZucchini @daniela127 @Chalkbeat pic.twitter.com/Tjr4dQsiu1

She tried her best spin when Weingarten got it wrong on Twitter.
It is impossible to be. #Somosor at the panel or hotel without proof of vaccination. I had also just done a rapid Covid test & was negative.Frankly I think you are right. If kids are wearing masks in schools to protect themselves & others educators must wear masks inside as well. I’m sorry.
— Randi Weingarten (@rweingarten) November 6, 2021
My mask is worn indoors most of the day. Because people couldn’t hear us, we removed them.
— Randi Weingarten (@rweingarten) November 6, 2021
So in other words, it’s cool if they take them off so people can understand what they are saying. But meanwhile, the kids who have to wear them for seven hours straight aren’t allowed to take them off to be understood, while Weingarten wants them in masks. They will have to endure them while Randi, the DOE Chancellor and others can make their own decisions.
This isn’t the first time that Weingarten has gotten nabbed for the ‘Rules for thee’ list, as we reported in the past. Weingarten was caught in an identical situation, meeting inside without masking with union leaders.
Is it possible for them to even hear themselves? Are they aware of the pain they inflict on children?
