Giuliani Brags About Ousting Ex-Ambassador Yovanovitch: ‘I Forced Her Out Because She’s Corrupt’

Rudy Giuliani defended the ouster of former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch by claiming she obstructed an investigation into the Bidens.

“I forced her out because she’s corrupt,” Giuliani said in an interview with Fox News late Monday.

Giuliani said in a recent New Yorker interview that he needed Yovanovitch “out of the way.”

President Donald Trump’s attorney on Monday claimed to have evidence showing Yovanovitch committed perjury and that she’d denied visas to Ukrainian citizens who wanted to come to the United States to testify about Democratic corruption.

He told Fox News host Laura Ingraham that the impeachment of Trump is a “cover-up” of Democrats’ corrupt dealings in Ukraine.

Trump and his allies have alleged that Joe Biden, who is running for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, acted to benefit his son Hunter, who served on the board of a Ukrainian energy allegedly being investigated for corruption.

Joe Biden has denied the accusation, saying he was simply carrying out Obama administration policy in an effort to bolster Ukraine against Russian aggression.

Yovanovitch was removed from her post as ambassador to Kiev in May after coming under attack from Giuliani, at a time when he was working to persuade Ukraine to carry out two investigations that Democrats claim would have benefitted the Republican president politically.

Yovanovitch defended her anti-corruption record in the Eastern European nation when she testified before a House impeachment committee in mid-November.

She said her removal had left policy there in disarray.

The Democratic-led House is expected to pass two articles of impeachment on Wednesday charging Trump with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress for his dealings with Ukraine.
