Yesterday, huge news broke involving John Durham’s investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia investigation.
Durham, who was not going to close down shop during the Obama administration has expanded his reach. Now, Durham targets those at the heart of the Steele Dossier. This includes those associated with Hillary Clinton campaigns. Igor Danchenko, Christopher Steele’s primary source for the dossier, being arrested represents the newest escalation. Today Gov. Ron DeSantis responded and turned the story into an attack on the media. He was able to get right to the core of the matter.
@GovRonDeSantisCorporation Media Destroyed🔥

It is absurd to criticize media for using anonymous sources in order to mislead or outright lie claims. We’ve seen example after example of mainstream outlets pushing wild conspiracy theories based on anonymous sourcing in order to attack Republicans only to eventually find out they were baseless. The starkest example of the last year involved the infamous “Russian bounties” story that was pushed so hard prior to the 2020 presidential election.
DeSantis points to the fact that the Steele Dossier was built up by anonymous reports. These reports claimed to be from the DOJ or its subordinate FBI. The walls were always “closing in.” Now we know that the dossier’s contents were laundered by Clinton operatives to Danchenko who then shared the false allegations to Steele. They were then distributed to an even more compliant media that was willing to publish anything that would harm Donald Trump.
DeSantis points out that they have destroyed their credibility. The people have started to trust their eyes, and not the biased media. This latest betrayal of trust, including the fact that The Washington Post knew Steele’s source was a Russian agent in early 2017, only compounds the split between the general public and the news media at large.
This is why the left can’t stand DeSantis. Republicans have felt for far too long the need to bow to the media out of concern about what they might say. Trump’s explosion onto the scene in 2015 changed all that, and DeSantis has refined the game further, managing to ruthlessly take down the media while never falling into their traps along the way. This is what you want to see.
