Robin Roberts, Who Eagerly Promoted Smollett Hoax, Skips Out on Sentencing Coverage

Another embarrassing chapter in the Jussie Smollett hoax case unfolded on Thursday and, once again, the chief cheerleader for the fraudulent claims was absent from covering it. 2020 Good Morning America co-host Robin Roberts devoted almost 18 minutes to Smollett’s claims that MAGA-loving fanatics attacked him with racial slurs and a noose.

GMAIt took 666 days for the case to be reopened. The case was already in ruins and it was finally closed. EmpireActor was found guilty of faking hate crimes. Roberts did not appear on the program as other guests, and was found guilty of faking a hate crime. GMAHe covered it. His sentencing was covered by all three morning television shows on Friday. Roberts again was absent from the program.

Instead, it was left to reporter Alex Perez who explained the sentencing: “Smollett defiant as he was taken to custody after being sentenced to 30 months of felony probation ordered to pay restitution of more than $120,000 to the city and a $25,000 fine. He’ll spend the first 150 days of his sentence in jail, all stemming from his conviction in December on five counts of felony disorderly conduct for lying to Chicago police about an alleged attack back in 2019.”

The judge in the trial condemned Smollett to his face in a dramatic courtroom moment: “Just a charlatan pretending to be a victim of a hate crime. Your very name has become an adverb for lying and I couldn’t imagine what would be worse than that.”

Between February 12, 2020 and December 9, 2021 GMASmollett has not been updated on his disintegration claims. Next day, Smollett’s disintegration claims were finally addressed.

Here’s what I wrote on December 9th, 2021:

On February 14, 2019, Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts devoted a whopping 17 minutes and 52 seconds to her “exclusive” interview of the actor recounting his claims. Roberts acted almost as a PR agent hailing the EmpireMAGA-loving MAGA-loving Manics noticed him in Chicago’s middle of the night, and he happened to be carrying a noose.

Preview of the sentencing will take place on Thursday GMARoberts attended for 18 seconds. For the major stories about Smollett she seems to be missing.

ALEX PEREZ: Hey, good morning, Michael. Smollett had many high-profile people defend him in court but nothing was enough for the judge to call him a hypocrite and a liar, who staged an attack on his reputation to make it more well-known.

JUSSIESMOLLET: My motives are not to commit suicide and I don’t believe in it. It would have been easy to say that I had been guilty long ago.

PEREZ After being given a 30 month sentence of felony probation, Smollett was defiantly taken into custody. He had to pay more than $120,000 in restitution to the city as well as a $25,000 penalty. The first 150 days will be spent in prison. This is all due to his December conviction on five counts for felony disorderly conduct, lying to Chicago Police about an alleged attack in 2019.

SMOLLETT – If this is what I did, then it would mean that I sucked in the fear of black Americans living in this country for more than 400 years. The fears of those in the LGBTQ Community.

PEREZ

JAMES JAMES LINN : A charlatan who pretends to be a victim a hate-crime. You have become an adjective for lying because of your very name. I can’t think of anything more horrible.

PEREZ: Smollett’s family continues to declare his innocence, despite being convicted.

JOCQUI SOLLETT (brother: He’s a survivor, and has suffered from severe mistreatment. This must stop.
