‘Reporter’ Unwittingly Stumbles Upon Ideal Solution for Those Concerned About Maskless Air Travel – Opinion

As air travel ramps up just a week before the Christmas holiday, panic is setting in amongst the mask police after the CEOs of two top airlines in the United States testified during a Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation Committee hearing Wednesday that they didn’t think masks added much in the way of protection against COVID-19 on flights.

Yesterday we reported that both the CEO of Southwest Airlines, Gary Kelly, and American Airlines CEO Doug Parker suggested during yesterday’s oversight hearing that they used high-quality filters to combat possible coronavirus infections on their flights.

“I think the case is very strong that masks don’t add much, if anything, in the air cabin environment. It is very safe and very high quality compared to any other indoor setting,” said Kelly.

Kelly and Parker both announced their plans to step down as CEOs within the next few months. They said that HEPA filters in planes trap virtually all forms of airborne contaminants. The frequency with which cabin air is changed is a key factor in improving air quality.

“I concur. An aircraft is the safest place you can be,” said Parker. “It’s true of all of our aircraft — they all have the same HEPA filters and air flow.”

Because some Democratic Senators on the committee were “outraged” over the comments made by Parker and Kelly (looking at you, Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey), American Airlines later clarified that Parker wasn’t actually agreeing with any suggestion to end mask mandates for domestic travel.

This morning on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program, co-host Joe Scarborough and reporter Katty Kay were talking about the story when Kay noted she would “never” get on any plane that didn’t require flight staff and passengers to be masked. Scarborough agreed with this:

How does Ms. Kay deal with the fact that people are willing to take off their masks in order to have food and drink? Karol Markowicz of the New York Post was asked this question by Karol Markowicz. Karol recently stated that she was leaving New York City due to strict regulations regarding vaccines and masks.

Unwittingly Ms. Kay discovered the best solution for anyone concerned about maskless flight travel at the holidays.

Don’t fly.

That said, as it stands now, Biden’s dictatorial mandates require that passengers and flight crews be masked up during flights, so I doubt Kay and others with similar concerns are going to have much to worry about. But eventually either the mandate is going to be stopped or some airlines are going to rebel because even they know the masking thing can’t be a forever thing.

Kay isn’t the only one obsessed with masking. They’ll need to either find an airline that still requires them or stay home. You can either do that, or you could stop trying to be Karens and just move forward.
