Just when you think MSNBC’s Joy Reid can’t sink any lower, she turns around the next day and makes a comment viler than the previous day. Case in point, on Tuesday night’s ReidOutReid spent another night frightened by Elon Musk’s purchase of Twitter by Tesla CEO.
“Elon Musk’s companies have a history of open racism, you know. There’s been this lawsuit against Tesla and he himself is a troll so his idea of freedom means freedom to be a jerk and to be cruel and to have no one be able to stop you” Reid wailed before turning to guest Jason Johnson to ask for his opinion on Musk’s Twitter takeover.
Johnson outright lied that Musk will leak Twitter users’ private messages in an attempt to scare viewers: “imagine if the worst most obnoxious person you’ve ever met had access to all your DMs and had the right to put them out whenever they want. Like that is essentially what people are looking at.”
Reid took Johnson’s irresponsible commentary and made the most disgusting and outrageous allegations she could think of. Right-leaning Twitter users were accused by Reid of being obsessed with race and wanting freedom speech. “come in and be able to punch people in the face and walk around and laugh about it and then not have anyone be able to stop them.”
“The thing is the enjoyment they get out of being in this town square is being able to harass people, being able to attack people” Reid huffed.
Yet she wasn’t done with her lying. Reid claimed Reid did not provide any evidence. “there was a time when people had the double hashtags around their names because they were Jewish and right-wingers were saying get in the oven any time you made any benign comment on Twitter. They targeted women. You know, the misogyny was crazy on Twitter for a while.”
She vented her anger at Musk, claiming that he wanted Arpatheid South Africa to return. “He misses the old South Africa in the 80s. He wants that back.”
Musk wanted to preserve freedom of expression on Twitter. This was the whole temper tantrum. These people really think they are the owners of these social media sites.

Eastern: 7:22 p.m.JOY RID: The news was troubling for many, not just the Twitter workers.
JASON JOHNSON – Right.
REID: Who you know in, their internal Slacks are really— a lot of them are wringing their hands, probably not all of them but a lot of them just worrying about what becomes of their company. It is well-known that Elon Musk has a long history of racism in his companies. Tesla has been sued, and Musk himself is a troll to further his vision of freedom.
JOHNSON: Yeah.
REID means freedom to be rude and cruel, and that no one is able to stop or hinder you. This takeover: What are you going to make of it?
JOHNSON, It is. Joy, when I spoke with Morgan State students about this, I suggested that they consider what it would be like if the most obnoxious and vile person in their lives had all of your DMs.
REID: Yeah.
JOHNSON As such, this is what the public are seeing. Joy thinks that we should be more concerned about multibillionaires participating in conversations. While we have larger concerns about political discourse, what are we really talking about is how and when our federal government will acknowledge that social media news is not just news. Social media is an open workplace. That social media is something that we have to stop pretending that it’s just, you know, teenagers and smart guys out of Harvard and Silicon Valley who don’t know what they’re doing. There are politically-minded individuals like Elon Musk, who want to control public discourse in the world. Governments need to be involved.

REID: The bottom line is that they aren’t just interested in being part of the club. They are described as someone who is on the fringe of culture and sees through glass. But they want in. They are looking to come in, be able slap people on the faces and have no fear of being stopped. They enjoy being in the town square and being able harass others, to be able attack people. It was not uncommon for people to use double hashtags when they identified themselves as Jewish. The right-wingers would say, “Get in the oven” whenever someone made a positive comment about Twitter. Women were attacked. It was a crazy misogyny that Twitter saw for quite a while. Elon Musk seems to miss the South Africa of the 80s. That is what he wants back.
