Record Number of Ships Now Backed up Under Biden but DeSantis Is Coming to the Rescue – Opinion

The supply chain disruption problem has been ongoing for a while but Joe Biden hasn’t said anything about it until a week ago.

At that time, Biden said that the Port of Los Angeles would now be operating 24/7 and that could be a “game-changer.” But as we reported, they’d already been test driving that idea since September 17 and now, a week after Biden’s announcement, the Port still isn’t running 24/7 — it was closed down on Sunday and only Biden doesn’t seem to understand all the problems that exist in that area causing the supply chain disruptions.

There are now a record number of ships backed up, even more than before Biden’s remarks, with 100 waiting to be unloaded at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, and even more on the way. The 100 beats the record of 97 last month, when normally, there would be about 17 at any given time prior to the pandemic. Another 45 ships are expected to arrive by Thursday. Almost 40% of shipping containers come through those two ports.

This is driving up prices and causing shortages across the country.

Meanwhile, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has said that the problem will continue until at least next year. Unbelievably, he tried to insult our intelligence, claiming that this was a sign of the success Biden has had with the economy. He’s still on family leave, with no one else in charge in his absence.

But while the Biden Administration continues to be unhinged from reality as to the crisis, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is coming to the rescue.

We reported before that he was offering an alternative, now he’s making it profitable as well.

DeSantis’ office said that they would be offering incentives to come to Florida, relieving the pressure on the West Coast ports.

At the event, JAXPORT announced that they will be offering incentives to any company that chooses to bring its business to the port, freeing up backlogs at other ports while ensuring Americans are able to receive the goods they order faster. Governor DeSantis was able to make the announcement that Florida Seaports are able to meet demand because Florida has continuously invested in its seaports.

“Year after year we continue to invest in our seaports, in infrastructure and in workforce education to make sure our supply chain is resilient,” DeSantis said. “I’m especially proud of Florida’s seaports. They are crown jewels in our state. While other U.S. ports are just now announcing around-the-clock operations, in Florida many of our ports are used to serving Florida farmers, families and businesses with 24 hour operations.”

“As the rest of the nation faces rampant inflation and businesses stare down unprecedented supply chain problems, our message is this: Florida is here, we have capacity, we have incentive packages to help businesses who want to move here and we are going to make sure Americans get their Christmas Gifts this season,” DeSantis continued.

DeSantis said they’d invested $1 billion in real infrastructure to make sure the ports and roadways can handle the traffic.

What a concept — investing in real infrastructure (not just Democratic agenda items) so things actually work. This is what competence looks like.
